Q & A with Northern Kentucky commit Tyler Marshall (2013 Trinity HS)

By Chris Fuller
Kentucky Scouting Director

Tyler Marshall, a 2013 left-handed hitting 3B from Trinity HS,  has made his commitment to Northern Kentucky University.  We recently caught up with Marshall to discuss his commitment.

PBR: Why did you choose Northern Kentucky?

Marshall: I chose NKU because I really liked the coaching staff, the campus was great, and it’s a new Division 1 program that has a chance to do something special in the near future.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Marshall: Dayton, Belmont, EKU, or a possible walk-on spot at UK.

PBR: Where did the coaching staff first see you play?

Marshall: I think they first saw me play at a tournament in Cincinnati last summer.

PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play your freshman year?

Marshall: Right now they aren’t really sure; they said they wanted to see how the fall went, but I will be ready to do anything they need of me.

PBR: What would you consider your biggest strength as a player?

Marshall: My biggest strength is probably my defense. I am very confident with my glove, making big plays is fun.

PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on your baseball career?

Marshall: My Dad. He has coached me since I was five years old and has been there for me every step of the way. He has literally taught me everything I need to know about the game.

PBR: Who do you play for in the summer?

Marshall: Louisville Panthers

PBR: What is your most memorable baseball moment?

Marshall: Winning the USSSA World Series as 10 year olds. Those days were awesome; we even made it on the news.

PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher you have faced in the state of Kentucky?

Marshall: Clinton Hollon

PBR: What are your goals for your senior season at Trinity?

Marshall: Nothing less than a State Championship
