The annual Preseason All-State Showcase at Champions Baseball Academy in Nicholasville included more than 120 players from all parts of the state looking to showcase their abilities prior to the high school season. In what is the premier preseason scouting event in the state, there were many standout performances which we will feature over the next week.

The following is a look at the Class of 2018 and 2019 middle infielders who particpated in the event.

Timmy Borden, SS, Our Lady of Providence (IN), 2018
60 Time: 7.04, Position Velocity:  IF-84, Exit Velocity: 90
6-foot-1, 170-pound RHH hits from a balanced stance, loads back with a slight leg kick, short stride, aggressive use of lower half, generates bat speed with loose hands, shows occasional power. Soft hands, athletic actions, good lateral movement and body control, long high-3/4 release produced accurate throws across the infield, very good arm strength. Borden is committed to Louisville.

Cameron Langston, SS, McCracken County, 2018
60 Time: 7.33, Position Velocity:  IF-78, Exit Velocity: 89
5-foot-11, 150-pound RHH hits from an open stance and squares up with a short stride, generates easy bat speed, good balance, good feel for the barrel, line drive hitter with some gap power. Stands out in the 2018 class defensively, works through the ball well with athletic actions, soft hands, quick exchange, good body control, high-3/4 release with accurate throws, arm strength was down slightly from previous event but solid. Langston has the look of a high-level 2018 prospect.

Jack Capobianco, SS, North Laurel, 2018
60 Time: 7.56, Position Velocity:  IF-74, Exit Velocity: L-86, R-82
5-foot-11, 165-pound switch hitter committed to Belmont following the event. Advanced switch hitter, compact swing from both sides, balanced stance, short stride, stays quiet, good bat speed, gap to gap approach with flashes of power, consistent hard contact. Soft hands, works thorugh the ball well, very quick release makes up some for average arm strength, current foot speed is average and should see some improvement.

Seth Bennett, SS, Somerset, 2018
60 Time: 7.67, Position Velocity:  IF-78, Exit Velocity: 86
6-foot-2, 175-pound RHH hits from a balanced stance, mid-length stride, aggressive use of lower half and hand quickness generates bat speed, hit several hard line drives in round of BP, has potential to develop consistent power as he fills out frame. Shows good actions defensively, soft hands, long high-3/4 release produced a slight increase in velocity from previous event, accurate throws. Current foot speed profiles best at 3B at the next level.

Bryce Thomas, 2B, Caldwell County, 2018
60 Time: 7.02, Position Velocity:  IF-79, Exit Velocity: L-83, R-83
5-foot-10, 145-pound switch hitter, similar approach from both sides of the plate, balanced stance, short stride, good balance, shows some quickness in hands, repeatable line drive swing, mid-field contact, runs well. Works around and through the ball well with athletic actions, average hands, long over the top release with solid arm strength .One to watch from the 2018 class.

Tyler Wagner, SS/RHP, Beechwood, 2019
60 Time: 7.18, Position Velocity:  IF-82, Exit Velocity: 83
6-foot-1, 163-pound LHH hits from a balanced stance, has quieted down the big leg kick that caused some previous timing issued, uses an inward toe tap and short stride, shows some hand quickness, took a  good round of BP with line drives to the middle of the field, good increase in exit velocity. Shows good speed for age and moves well, very good arm strength for age, long high-3/4 release, mostly accurate throws. Wagner is a young player with tools who is one to watch closely.

Brock Littleton, 2B/RHP, Paul Laurence Dunbar, 2019
60 Time: 7.37, Position Velocity:  IF-78, Exit Velocity: 86
5-foot-10, 145-pound RHH hits from an open stance, uses a leg kick trigger and mid-length stride to square up, foot gets down late at times, slight arm bar in load, some length in swing, showed well above average bat speed in exit velocity testing.  Showed good body control and athleticism for young player, average hands, can work through the ball more fluidly, well above average arm strength from a high-3/4 release. Has tools for age and will be a player to watch closely from the 2019 class.

Kyle Taylor, 2B/RHP, Simon Kenton, 2018
60 Time: 7.76, Position Velocity:  IF-68, Exit Velocity: 73
5-foot-7, 135-pound switch hitter has a similar approach from both sides, balanced stance, mid-length stride, shorter swing path, line drive type hitter with gap to gap approach, bat speed will improve with strength gains. Average hands and defensive actions, high-3/4 release with some stiffness in arm action, accurate throws across the infield, current arm strength is below average with room to improve.

Nathaniel Ymata, 2B, North Hardin, 2019
60 Time: 8.24, Position Velocity:  IF-59, Exit Velocity: 67
5-foot-3, 110-pound RHH hits from a narrow and mostly upright stance, long stride, flat bat path, limited lower half use, line drive type hitter. Solid fundamental defender who will continue to improve with maturity, fields out front and funnels to body, high-3/4 release with developing arm strength.
