Trevor Howard, 3B, Southwestern HS, 2016
At 6-foot-3, 215-pounds, Howard offers prototypical corner size and has the tools to go along with it.
As a member of Team Kentucky at this year’s Prep Baseball Report Future Games, Howard impressed on Day 1 during position player workouts. During defensive evaluations, he showed soft hands, good lateral movement, and plenty of arm strength across the infield at 86 mph. The 86 mph arm strength was second best among the group of third basemen at the event.
After posting a 97 mph exit velocity off the tee, a number that that landed Howard in the top five of the event, he impressed in his round of batting practice with a barrage of hard line drives. While he only recorded one hit in three games during the event, the ball jumps off his bat, and his potential to be an impact middle-of the-order bat at the next level is apparent.
Coming off a sophomore campaign that saw him pound 16 doubles and nine home runs, Howard will attempt to lead Southwestern HS to a consecutive 12th Region championship in 2015.
