As the weather began to improve some last week and many teams also headed south for spring break, the action on the field began to heat up as well.
With teams from around the state getting several games in, the competition for Player of the Week was fierce as many deserving performances were turned in.
As we mulled through the stats and players nominated, one player's numbers stood out among the crowd in a very tight race.
Lone Oak senior 3B/RHP Sam Goode had a stellar week in Florida, leading his team to a 5-0 week. In the 5 games played, Goode went 11-for-19 at the plate with four doubles, and eight RBI.
As if those stats weren't impressive enough, Goode fired a complete game, 3-hit shutout in a 3-0 win over Niceville, FL. Niceville entered the game having won 13 consecutive games with an overall record of 18-3.
In honor of his performance on the field, Sam Goode , who will continue his education and playing career at Lincoln Land College in the fall, has been named the Kentucky Player of the Week.
