The 2014 Major League Draft takes place June 5-7. It will begin Thursday evening at 7 p.m. EST with the first day consisting of the first two rounds and competitive balance rounds. The third through 10th rounds will take place on Friday and Rounds 11-40 will happen Saturday. The final two days will start at 1 p.m. EST. In advance of the draft, Prep Baseball Report is posting a summary of each state in the coverage area with scouting reports on the top high school draft prospects.
The 2013 high school class was a special one for Kentucky with two second-round selections plus a few more players that headed to college and could become high follows after three years. While 2014 understandably takes a step back, there are still some interesting players to make note of in advance of this year’s draft.
1. Micah Miniard, RHP, Boyle County HS, KY
Miniard has a big, projectable frame at 6-foot-7, 210 pounds and flashed an above-average arsenal at time last summer with a low 90s fastball and nasty, hard-biting slider in the low 80s. However, he didn’t always show consistency and the same has been true this spring.
