KY College Prospect Showcase: 1B Analysis

On Saturday, January 17, prospects from all parts of the state showcased their abilities at the Kentucky College Showcase at Legends Sports Academy in Louisville. Today we continue our analysis of players who attended the event.
The following is a look at the group of first basemen.
CJ Bush, 1B, R/R, Lexington Catholic HS, 2016
6-foot-1, 215-pound prospect with strong frame, right-handed hitter hits from an open stance, squares front side with a short stride, easy swing with quick hands, generates good bat speed through the zone, shows good pull-side power, ball really jumps off bat when he squares it up, has potential to be power bat at the next level, 4.50 home to first base time, 94 mph exit velocity. Defensively, moves well, hands are soft, good athleticism, 81 mph arm strength across the infield.
Ben Rider, 3B/OF, R/R, Henry Clay HS, 2016
6-foot, 195-pound prospect with strong and athletic frame, right-handed hitter hits from a slightly open stance, brings front foot back in load, short stride, shows strength in swing, generates bat speed, 92 mph exit velocity, flashes gap to gap power, posted 4.69 home to first base time. Defensively, as a 3B shows average hands, moves well laterally, long high-3/4 release, 77 mph arm across the infield with accurate throws, as an outfielder plays through the ball, 81 mph arm strength.
Conner Ryle, 1B/OF/LHP, L/L, Ryle HS, 2018
6-foot-3, 185-pound, young prospect with athletic frame, left-handed hitter hits from a balanced stance, front foot moves back in load, short stride, shows some bat speed for age, good extension through contact, gap-to-gap approach, 75 mph exit velocity, 5.22 home to first time. Defensively, shows adequate hands, good footwork around the first base bag, 68 mph arm across the infield. As an outfielder, shows some hesitancy in playing through the ball, short high-3/4 release, 74 mph arm strength. Ryle is an interesting young left-handed hitter to keep a close eye on in the future.
Alex Goodridge, RHP/1B, R/R, Ryle HS, 2016
6-foot-1, 195-pound prospect with strong lower half, hits from a balanced stance with a short stride, level swing path, flat finish, good balance, has limited use of lower half, average bat speed, 78 mph exit velocity, line drive type hitter with gap to gap approach, posted 5.20 home to first base time. Defensively, hands work, average footwork around the first base bag, short arm action, high-3/4 release, 75 mph velocity across the infield.
Tyler Beisner, LHP/1B, L/L, North Oldham HS, 2018
5-foot-11, 140-pound, young prospect with lanky frame, left-handed hitter hits from a balanced stance, short stride, needs more use of lower half, line drive type hitter, uses opposite field well, offensive game will continue to evolve as he gets physically stronger, 66 mph exit velocity, posted a 4.49 home to first base time in showing good speed for age. Defensively, shows good actions at first base, moves well, hands work, showed developing arm strength across the infield at 68 mph.
Drew Webb, 1B, R/L, Madisonville North Hopkins HS, 2017
5-foot-11, 190-pound prospect, right-handed hitter hits from a balanced stance with a short stride, drops hands, level swing path, needs more use of lower half, shows some strength in swing, ran 4.84 home to first base time, 81 mph exit velocity. Defensively, shows soft hands, decent movement around the bag, short arm action with over the top release, 65 mph arm strength across the infield.
