Team KC Scout Day: Quick Hits

On Tuesday, June 4th, the Prep Baseball Kansas staff traveled to Creekside Baseball Park in Parkville, MO to host the first annual Royals Scout Team Scout Day. This event, which is in its first year, was open to all Team KC 2025-to-2028 prospects with 20+ names in attendance.

All of our events offer players the opportunity to update their recruiting resume and showcase their talents in front of our staff. We also use these events as identifiers for future invite-only events, like the Preseason All-State, our summer Top Prospect Games, and the prestigious Prep Baseball Future Games that takes place at the tail end of the summer. Earlier, our staff rolled out the day’s statistical standouts in leaderboard format within our ‘Stat Story’, which you can find HERE. Today, after combing through our notes from the day, we’ve compiled some of the event’s standouts within these ‘Quick Hits’. Read below to learn about 7 names that popped to our staff from Tuesdays trip to Parkville.

POSITION PLAYERS

+ INF Jake Buchman (Blue Valley Southwest, 2028) is a smooth swinging switch hitter to keep an eye on from Tuesday’s event. With a level, polished swing from both sides of the plate, Buchman posted a 82.7 mph exit velo while flashing some pull side pop and showing quick hands with a 23.6 mph peak hand speed. In the infield, the incoming freshman showed smooth reliable actions and a 72 mph velocity to pair. 

+ Another upside athlete to follow from this event is C/INF Charlie Foote (Blue Valley Southwest, 2028). With plenty of room to add strength and size in a 5-foot-11, 160-pound frame, Foote was all over the barrel in his round of BP, spraying line drives to all fields, reaching a 85.3 mph peak exit velocity and sending his best ball 320 feet. From behind the dish, Foote showcased his athleticism and quick transfer, producing 2.12-2.25 pop times.

+ OF Rowan Elliott (Raymore-Peculiar, 2027) is packed with athleticism in a 5-foot-8, 145-pound frame. An elite runner for his age, Elliott started off the day by posting a 6.89 60 time to lead all athletes at the event. At the plate, the sophomore showed a quick, inside-out swing that gets on plane early, delivering line drives to all fields and a 86 mph exit velocity. Elliott’s athleticism played in the field as well where he fired the top outfield velocity mark of the day at 73 mph.

+ C Carter Laubach (Lawrence Free State, 2028) was another backstop that had a standout showing at Tuesday’s event. Packed with strength in a 5-foot-8, 185-pound frame, Laubuch showed intent to elevate and drive the ball throughout his round, posting one of the top exit velocities of the event with a 89.1 mph mark. That strength carried over to behind the plate where he generated 2.18-2.40 pop times and a top velocity of 71 mph.

+ C/INF John Meisinger (Olathe Northwest, 2026) is a 5-foot-9, 165-pound athlete that looked the part on both sides of the ball on Tuesday. At the plate, Meisinger swung a heavy, right-handed barrel that created natural lift throughout his round of BP. With power to come as he adds strength to his frame, Meisinger produced a peak exit velocity of 89.9 mph in this look. His arm played true from behind the plate, peaking at 72 mph on his firmest bullet with 2.03-2.19 pop times - both tops at the event. 

TWO-WAYS

+ One of the biggest winners to come away from Tuesday’s event was INF/RHP Ty Lange (Liberty North, 2027). The 5-foot-7, 145-pound sophomore swings a compact left-handed barrel that plays through the middle of the field, reaching a 91.5 mph peak exit velocity - tops of the event. Additionally, his arm played strong across the diamond, producing a top velocity of 76 mph. Afterwards, Lange hopped on the mound where he showcased a fastball at 78-79 mph with 2,100+ RPM spin and a vertical breaking, 65-66 mph curveball with 2,500+ RPM spin.

+ C/1B/RHP Jagger Jackson (Savannah, 2028) emerged as another two-way prospect to follow from this event. With plenty of upside at 6-foot-1, 190-pounds, Jackson showed bat strength throughout his round with a level, inside-out swing, generating exit velocities upwards of 86.6 mph. Defensively, the freshman posted a 77 mph infield velocity - top mark of the day - to go along with a 70 mph velo from behind the plate. Jackson then hopped on the mound and pitched at 76-77 mph, T78 mph with the aptitude to land his slider/changeup mix for strikes at 63-67 mph and 66-67 mph respectively.
