PBR Kansas POWER 25

The Kansas high school baseball season kicked off on March 17th, opening day for regular season action under KSHSAA regulations. Leading up to opening day, we published our team previews ahead of and during the beginning of the 2024 spring season, touching on programs spanning all state classifications, leading into the official PBR Kansas Preseason Power 25 Rankings.

While much of the initial lists are weighted on previous performances, prospects, and projections, updates will be inherently tied to the production on the field. Simply put: wins, level of competition, and prospects matter. A human element to the list will still provide important information on the nuances and intricacies that the season bestows. Whether it is a close loss in a rivalry game, a five-game in three days gauntlet, or a bout of sickness that depletes a lineup, you can count on PBR to critically examine the playing field at all times.

Following Opening Day, our scouts will be out and about covering the 2024 season and will be publishing scout notes and additional in-season content along the way, like Power 25 updates, Diamond Notes, Scout Blogs, and Player of the Week awards.

+ Bishop Carroll jumps up 3 spots to the No. 1 position in our rankings. The pitching staff looks talented on paper and they have matched the hype with their performances. Offensively, Carroll puts consistent pressure on the defenses with some of the best team speed and they handle the bat well.

+ Olathe East rises 3 more spots into the No. 2 position as they remain undefeated thanks to a balanced showing of pitching, defense, and a 1-9 offensive attack. The Hawks are still a week away from the toughest part of their schedule, but they show no signs of slowing down. It would be an easy argument to make for East to be No. 1.

+ Gardner Edgerton remain undefeated and climbs 6 spots to No. 3 thanks impressive pitching and timely hitting to start the year. The toughest part of their schedule lays ahead and we are excited to see if the Blazers can keep up their winning way.

+ Olathe North enters the rankings at No. 22 thanks to quality wins against Blue Valley West and Blue Valley North, proving they can beat almost anyone on any given day.

+ Clay Center/Wakefield cracks our rankings as the second 4A team on our list thanks to one of the most dominating statistical starts to the year. The Tigers have scored over 17 runs on average while allowing less than one run a game.
