Cavalier Baseball Club Scout Day: Quick Hits

On Sunday, October 20th, the Prep Baseball Kansas staff traveled to Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, KS to host the annual Cavalier Baseball Club Scout Day. This event, featured 50+ players from the Cavalier Baseball Club program in attendence.

All of our events offer players the opportunity to update their recruiting resume and showcase their talents in front of our staff. We also use these events as identifiers for future invite-only events, like the Preseason All-State, our summer Top Prospect Games, and the prestigious Prep Baseball Future Games that takes place at the tail end of the summer. Earlier, our staff rolled out the day’s statistical standouts in leaderboard format within our ‘Stat Story’, which you can find HERE. Today, after combing through our notes from the day, we’ve compiled some of the event’s standouts within these ‘Quick Hits’. Read below to learn about 9 names that popped to our staff from Sunday's trip to Overland Park.

   

QUICK HITS

+ 1B/LHP Bryce Fullen (Lansing, 2026) is a name to know two-way that continues to emerge as an offensive threat with every look. An athletic mover in the box, Fullen swung a loud, whippy barrel from the left side of the plate, flashing advanced bat speed (T77.1 mph) and reaching exit velocities upwards of 97.7 mph. Favoring the pullside of the field, Fullen also barreled his best ball 338 feet while averaging 87.4 mph per batted ball. Defensively, the 6-foot, 177-pound junior showed reliable actions and clean footwork around the bag at first while reaching 81 mph on his firmest throw. On the mound, the southpaw pitched in the low-80s with his fastball, peaking at 82.5 mph on the day with the ability to command two distinct breaking balls for strikes with a curveball at 67-68 mph and a horizontal moving slider at 67-70 mph. He also turned over a tumbling, swing and miss changeup at 73-74 mph.

  

+ INF Gavin Dilley (Blue Valley North, 2026) is an upside athlete to keep an eye on from this event. Standing at 6-foot-1, 180-pounds, the junior saw considerable jumps in almost all of his metrics since our last look thanks to an increase in athleticism and strength. Using a compact, connected swing at the plate, the righty posted the day’s highest exit velocity with a 99 mph mark, consistently finding the barrel to the pull side with a strong average of 86 mph per batted ball. His Blast Metrics - 25.5 mph hand speed and 84.7 mph bat speed - all tested well above average and led the event. Dilley also showed polish on the infield with a 83 mph bullet across the diamond to pair with a 7.05 60 time. 

  

+ Another notable athlete to keep an eye on this spring is OF Owen Lindley (Olathe North, 2026) The 5-foot-11, 155-pound uncommitted junior possessed a simple, repeatable left-handed barrel that produced a max exit velocity of 95.5 mph with more to come as he adds strength. Defensively, Lindley posted a 83 mph mark from the outfield and showcased clean, athletic actions to pair.

  

+ Coming off a strong season on the summer circuit, CIF Liam Funk (Olathe Northwest, 2025) impressed our staff with another noteworthy performance in this look. Packed with physicality in a 6-foot, 190-pound frame, Funk worked from gap to gap throughout his round of BP, flashing power to all fields thanks to elite bat speed (T80.4 mph, 77.7 mph average). The uncommitted senior barreled his best ball 94.4 mph, sending it 346 feet to left field. On the infield, Funk showed reliable footwork and hands, reaching 83 mph on his firmest throw across the diamond. 

  

+ C Jackson Whiddon (De Soto, 2026) is a physical 6-foot, 195-pound athlete that showed upside on both sides of the ball in this event. Whiddon was impressive from behind the plate thanks to a clean transfer where he led all catchers in pop time (1.91-2.04) while being accurate and on the bag with all his throws. At the plate, Whiddon barreled the furthest ball from Sunday’s event at 372 feet with a 94.5 max exit velocity, showing a compact powerful stroke that worked to elevate balls to the pull side of the field.

  

+ With plenty of projection in a lean, 6-foot-2, 170-pound frame, OF Merrick Ginden (Blue Valley West, 2027) showed loud tools on both sides of the ball in his Prep Baseball debut on Sunday. Using a repeatable, long-levered swing at the plate, Ginden worked back through the middle of the field, posting a peak exit velocity of 93 mph with a strong average of 85.9 mph per batted ball - both among the top marks at the event - and with more to come as he adds strength. From the outfield Ginden fired a 84 mph mark to go along with a 6.86 60 time. As he continues to polish his skill set, look for Ginden to emerge as a name to follow in the Kansas 2027 class.

  

+ C/INF Riley Williams (Gardner-Edgerton) is another name to know from the 2025 class. Listed at 6-foot, 190-pounds, Williams put together a loud, consistent round of BP, peaking at a 92.8 mph exit velocity with a max bat speed of 78.3 mph. His rotational, level swing drove backspun line drives to the pullside of the field. Williams also posted 1.95-2.04 pop times from behind the plate with a 78 mph infield velocity as well.

  

+ A quick twitch, top of the order bat, OF Logan Waldorf (Blue Valley Northwest, 2026) continued to show an advanced feel for the barrel at the plate in this look. The junior used an all-fields approach and quick (76.3 mph bat speed), inside-out swing to spray line drives throughout his round of BP from the left side of the plate. Also possessing game-changing speed, Waldorf posted the fastest 60 time of the day with a 6.64 mark.

  

+ OF Carter King (Olathe East, 2026) is a 5-foot-10, 155-pound athlete with the ability to impact the game on both sides of the ball. King showed a quick swing that stayed through the zone and drove balls through the middle of the field in BP, producing exit velocities up to 92.9 mph. His athleticism was evident in the field where he ran a 6.87 60 and fired an event-leading 88 mph bullet from the outfield. On the mound, King commanded a four pitch mix for strikes, running his fastball up into the low-80s.
