On August 2, Prep Baseball Report-Missouri/Kansas held the Top Prospect Games in Warrensburg, Missouri. Fifty players in both stats participated in the 2018 and 2017 class.
College recruiters and pro scouts have access to the updated player profiles on ScoutPlus. Profiles have been updated with video, profile picture, times and velos from the event. Today, we will break down the pitching performances from the event. Although some pitchers may have participated in other positions, this is just a look at pitching performances. Players are listed in alphabetical order.

Pitchers
Michael Barnes, LHP, Kickapoo (MO), 2017
Barnes is a 6-foot-4 195-pound left-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2017 class. Barnes worked fastball at 74-78 mph, showed a 12-to-6 shaped breaking ball, at 66-69 mph, change up at 72 mph, flashed arm side run, high three quarters release, throws with regular effort, some looseness in arm action, tall and lean frame.
Zane Barr, RHP, Fort Osage (MO), 2018
Barr is a 6-foot-2 187-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2018 class. Barr’s fastball topped at 86 mph, one of the top RHP velos of the day, sitting 83-85 mph, threw all fastball in outing, quick/loose arm action, throws with some effort, slightly across body, smooth rhythm in delivery.
Drew Boessen, RHP, Helias (MO), 2017
Boessen is a 6-foot-2 165-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2017 class. Boessen was 80-84 mph with fastball, one of the top RHP velos of the event, some cutting action, high percentage of strikes, had three strikeouts, one walk, no hits in outing, also created weak contact, athletic off the mound to field position, over the top release, tall and fall type delivery, loose arm action, 12-to-6 shaped breaking ball, 70-72 mph, controllable, repeats delivery, lean frame with projection.
Collin Breckner, LHP, Fair Grove (MO), 2017
Breckner is a 6-foot-2 160-pound left-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2017 class. Breckner has a high three quarters release, in line stride, throws with regular effort, fastball worked on a downhill plane, 78-80 mph, touching 81 mph, one of the top LHP velos of the event, 1-to-7 breaking ball, 62-64 mph, change up as fastball arm speed, down in the zone, 69-71 mph, aggressive on the mound, works quick, attacks hitters with fastball, fastball works on both sides of plate.
Gabriel Combs, RHP, Lee’s Summit (MO), 2018
Combs is a 5-foot-11 145-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2018 class. Combs sat 75-77 mph with fastball, some flashing late run, 12-to-6 breaking ball, 56-61 mph, fastball arm speed, compliments fastball well, throws both pitches for a strike, high three quarters release, throws with regular effort, hands raise with leg lift, throws slightly across body, smooth tempo in delivery, forced contact from hitters in game action, one strike out, one walk, one hit, faced six hitters.
Grant Cowley, LHP, St. Thomas Aquinas (KS), 2017
Cowley is a 5-foot-11 160-pound left-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2017 class. Cowley was 74-78 mph with fastball, some cutting action, curveball has 1-to-7 shape, down in zone, good feel for breaking ball, forced contact, commanded both pitches, direct delivery to the plate, compact build, over the top release, repeats delivery, struck out one, allowed two hits, faced eight hitters.
Andrew Douglas, RHP, Festus (MO), 2017
Douglas is a 6-foot 180-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2017 class. Douglas worked 79-82 mph with fastball, showed a 76 mph cutter and 75 mph splitter, breaking ball has 12-to-6 shape, 68-72 mph, some flashing sharp break, forced contact from hitters, throws a heavy ball forcing mostly ground ball outs, allowed two hits, one strike out, faced nine batters, four ground ball outs, over the top release, smooth rhythm in delivery, in line stride, athletic finish.
Ryan Ferger, RHP, Blue Valley Northwest (KS), 2017
Ferger is a 6-foot-2 198-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2017 class. Ferger was 80-84 mph with his fastball, one of the top RHP velos of the day, quick over the top arm action, breaking ball at 72-74 mph, some flashing tight spin and sharp 12-to-6 action, change up at 76 mph, throws on a downhill plane, aggressive down the mound with delivery, in line stride.
Meade Fry, LHP, Macon (MO), 2018
Fry is a 5-foot-11 175-pound left-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2018 class. Fry was 73-78 mph with is fastball, works fastball to arm side well, high three quarters release, 2-to-8 shaped slider, good feel, 62-64 mph, throws with east effort, controlled delivery, repeated well early in outing, struck out first two hitters.
Bayler Hinz, RHP, St. Thomas Aquinas (KS), 2017
Hinz is a 6-foot-2 220-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2017 class, Drury University commit. Hinz was was 84-88 mph, one of the top RHP velos of the event, high number of strikes with three pitches, breaking ball was sharp 11-to-5 curveball, 76 mph, threw one change up in the zone at 75 mph, some arm side sink, big frame with max arm speed, used both sides of the plate, breaking ball created swing and misses, three strikeouts, one walk, two hits, faced seven batters in outing.
Tanner Lane, LHP, Webb City (MO), 2017
Lane is a 5-foot-11 165-pound left-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2017 class. Lane’s fastball was 77-80 mph, one of the top LHP velos of the event, comes from a high three quarters release, easy and repeatable delivery, strike thrower, works from 3B side of rubber, loose arm action, works fastball to both sides of the plate, curveball has 1-to-7 shape, 68-70 mph, change up at 72 mph, flashes arm side release, throws with regular effort, created contact and filled up the zone.
Andrew Paten, RHP, Hickman (MO), 2017
Paten is a 6-foot-1 200-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2017 class. Paten was 78-79 mph with fastball, occasional cutting action, high three quarters arm slot, slightly across body, curveball at 69-73 mph, tight spin, 11-to-5 action, created some swing and miss, throws with regular effort, strong build.
Blake Ripp, RHP, St. James Academy (KS), 2018
Ripp is a 5-foot-8 135-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2018 class. Ripp sat 75-79 mph with fastball, high three quarters arm slot, athletic on the mound, compact delivery, repeatable delivery, throws strikes, showed a cutter at 78 mph in the zone, 12-to-6 curveball 63-66 mph, pitched to contact with one strike out, one walk, faced seven hitters.
Trae Robertson, LHP, Hickman (MO), 2018
Robertson is a 6-foot-4 180-pound left-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2018 class. Robertson looks to be a top arm in the 2018 class. His fastball touched 87 mph, top LHP velo of the event, sitting 84-86 mph for most of the outing, fastball has arm side run, late life, downhill plane, 1-to-7 slider at 68-72 mph, sharp and late, broke a couple nice sliders off RHH back foot, confident mound presence, quick arm, strike thrower, four strikeouts, two walks, one hit in outing.
Matt Russell, RHP, Staley (MO), 2017
Russell is a 6-foot-3 190-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2017 class. Russell has a dominate outing collecting six strikeouts, one walk and on hit against seven hitters. Fastball at 88-90 mph, top RHP velo of the day, sharp breaking ball with 11-to-5 action, 77-81 mph, late break, swing and miss, throws strikes, strong bodied, throws with some effort at end of delivery, clean arm action, high three quarters release, best pitching outing of the event.
Lane Sanders, RHP, Belle (MO), 2017
Sanders is a 6-foot 190-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2017 class. Sanders was 71-73 mph with his fastball, occasional slight run, lot of strikes early in outing, breaking ball has 11-to-5 shape, late action, 63 mph curveball, throws on same plane as fastball, over the top release, hides the ball well with some deception in delivery, repeats, slightly across body, created contact from hitters with mostly fly ball outs.
Bennett Shocklee, RHP, Parkway South (MO), 2017
Shocklee is a 5-foot-11 166-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2017 class. Shocklee was 79-83 mph with his fastball, repeatable delivery and arm action, worked from the stretch, athletic movements, cut action to fastball, gradual 12-to-6 action on breaking ball, 59-63 mph, worked to glove side with fastball.
Cameron Townsend, RHP, Blue Valley Southwest (KS), 2018
Townsend is a 6-foot-1 167-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2018 class. Townsend has a quick and short arm action, falls to 1B side in finish, tall and lean frame, in line stride, fastball at 80-82 mph, breaking ball has 11-to-5 action, 66-69 mph.
Nick Wiley, RHP, Lindbergh (MO), 2017
Wiley is a 6-foot-1 170-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri’s 2017 class. Wiley was 82-87 mph with his fastball, one of the top RHP velos of the day, sinks into back leg and drives forward in delivery, high three quarters arm slot, late running action to fastball, heavy fastball, 12-to-6 breaking ball at 69-72 mph, attacked hitters, threw strikes.
Casey Worley, LHP, St. James Academy (KS), 2018
Worley is a 6-foot 140-pound left-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2018 class. Worley was 73-77 mph with his fastball, throws for a strike on both sides of the plate, 12-to-6 breaking ball, 61-64 mph, change up at 67 mph, high three quarters arm slot, throws with some deception, hides ball, in line stride, smooth tempo in delivery, throw with regular effort.
