Top-10 Profiles of 2020: No. 3 Ben Bybee
December 27, 2020
As the year starts to unwind, our staff will start to highlight the top-10 most viewed profiles from 2020 - starting at 10 and counting down.
Today we’ll look at Blue Valley Southwest’s Ben Bybee, one of the top right-handed pitching prospects in the country for the 2022 class and our third most viewed profile for this year. He’s the second ranked prospect in the state’s current junior class and also comes in at No. 30 overall in our national rankings.
It’s been some time since we’ve personally gotten an up-close look at Bybee at an event but he made some noise this summer, adding strength onto his now 6-foot-6, 225-pound frame that led to an uptick in his stuff. His fastball regularly sat in the upper-80s, creeping into the 90 mph range a few times with sink. He compliments that heater with above-average feel to spin a developing breaking ball and a competitive awareness for attacking the zone.
For @RoyalsScoutTeam Ben Byee ‘22 (@RazorbackBSB) Sold projection to 6-4 frame. Slope w long arms. Arm works clean off HTQ slot. 86-89 w sink & feel for spin. Gets after the zone. True upside w feel. @ShooterHunt pic.twitter.com/Yb2ZRXinnJ

Bybee committed to Arkansas back in 2019 and his upside on the mound should certainly excite the Razorbacks’ coaching staff about the thought of him making it to campus. Further refining his arsenal and continuing to add velocity, however, could lead to Bybee garnering some serious draft attention throughout next year’s summer circuit.
