The Barn Scout Day: Stats Story

The Barn Scout Day was held out their state of the art indoor facility and their outdoor field on location on Jan. 17th. The event featured 40 players from all class and featured some ranked players that have made another jump, plus some new names that will makes splashes in our next rankings update. Below are the top performers in each metric collected at the event.
A few of the standout performances include uncommitted 2022 RHP 6-foot-3, 198-pound Torin Cavanaugh (Chapman HS) sitting 83-85 mph with the fastball and 71-74 mph with the slider, both for strikes with elite spin. Benjamin Laird (Seaman HS), and uncommitted 2022 also had a big day with an event high exit velo at 90 mph, a strong round of BP, and posting an event high infield velo of 83 mph. Key'ahn Taylor (Junction City), an uncommitted 2021 posted a near near 2.0 pop to go along with an event leading 6.81 60 time. Uncommitted 2023 Ian Luce (Manhattan HS) might have had the most well rounded work out, establishing himself further as one of the top underclassmen in the state.
