Player Spotlight: OF Kurt Paldino (Olathe East, 2016)

Shon Plack
Kansas Scouting Director

PBR: Are you looking for anything in particular in a school? (Example: high academics, certain academic program, local, etc.)

Paldino: I am looking for a school with a competitive baseball program that I can contribute to and will continue to help me grow as a player.  I am looking for a challenging academic environment.  I am still undecided on a major, but I would prefer a school that is strong in math, science, or engineering.

PBR: How did you do your junior year? What were your high school statistics? And how did your team do? Name some players that will have an impact on the 2016 season.

Paldino: My junior year went very well.  I lead my team in most major hitting categories, batting .385 with an OBP of .507 and an OPS of 1.142.  I also was awarded 2nd team All-Sunflower League honors in the outfield. Although we started off very strong last season, my high school team finished 12-9.  Some players who will have an impact on the 2016 season include Daulton East, Austin Weiler, and Gage McCutcheon

PBR: What are you goals for your senior season?

Paldino: I am currently working to improve my arm strength.  This winter I will be working to improve my power at the plate, along with my speed and strength.  As a team, we are looking to win our conference and make a run in the state playoffs.

PBR: What travel team do you play for? Are you playing fall ball with a team?

Paldino: I play for Natural Baseball Academy in the summer, and I do not play fall ball because I play football for my high school.

PBR: Do you play any other sports?

Paldino: I also play football.

PBR: What are your ACT and GPA?

Paldino: My ACT composite is a 30, super scored to a 31, and my weighted GPA is 4.28 (3.85 unweighted).
