Player Spotlight: C/OF Griffin Larsen (Shawnee Mission East, 2018)
October 25, 2017
Griffin Larsen (Shawnee Mission East, 2018) has transferred school from a season ago and looking to help the Lancers get back to the state championship.
Here is a look inside the recruiting of Griffin Larsen.
PBR: Are you looking for anything in particular in a school? (Example: high academics, certain academic program, local, etc.)
Larsen: I’m looking for a school with a quality baseball program. While I haven’t declared a major I’m looking for a school with opportunities in business or exercise science.
PBR: How did you do your junior year? What were your high school statistics? How did your team do?
Larsen: I had a very good high school season last spring. I batted .340, with a .439 OBP. Even though my primary position is behind the plate, I spent most of my time alternating between the outfield and the pitching mound to meet the needs of my high school team. I had a 3.41 ERA in 26.2 innings pitched and 22 strikeouts. I also was named to the all district 2nd team as an outfielder. Unfortunately, my high school season ended early with an injury. I spent my summer in physical therapy. I was able to spend much of my time in the dugout with my summer team, focused on learning from my coaches and listening to their decisions, basically studying the game from a different perspective.

PBR: What travel team do you play for? Are you playing fall ball with a team?
Larsen: I play for Yard Baseball Club in the Kansas City metro area. We just finished our fall season.
PBR: Do you play any other sports?
Larsen: No other organized sports, but I enjoy trap shooting and fishing.
PBR: What are your ACT and GPA?
Larsen: I scored a 25 on the ACT and I have a 3.84 GPA.
