Shon Plack
Kansas Scouting Director

Cooper Turpin (Salina Sacred Heart, 2018) recently attended the Unsigned Prospect Showcase.  Here is a look inside the recruiting process for Cooper Turpin.

PBR:  Are you looking for anything in particular in a school? (Example: high academics, certain academic program, local, etc.)
Turpin:  I am looking for a school with programs in either criminal justice and/or forensic science.  I also have interest in schools that offer programs in UAS/drones.

PBR: How did you do your junior year? What were your high school statistics? And how did your team do?

Turpin:  I had a pretty successful junior season. I batted .446 with a .696 SLG percentage and an OBP of .529.  I caught all 107.2 innings my team played with a fielding percentage of .978.  I made First Team All-League as well as being selected for the All-State team.  Although my team struggled to win games throughout the season, we made big improvements toward the end of the year and finished Regional Championship Runner-Up.

PBR: What are you goals for your senior season?
Turpin:  My goals for my senior season are to stay committed to the process, have a driven work ethic, have a positive and humble attitude, and not only give 100% effort at every practice and game but also in being the best teammate.

PBR:  What travel team do you play for? Are you playing fall ball with a team?
Turpin:  I play for the Mac N Seitz Blacksox 18U-Peterson.

PBR: Do you play any other sports?
Turpin:  Besides baseball, I also play basketball for my high school team.  During my junior year, my team won the State Championship.

PBR: What are your ACT and GPA?
Turpin: I have a 3.7 GPA.  I took the ACT in October but do not have my score back yet.
