On the infield, Knutson has an 82 mph positional velo with a long three-quarters release and a clean exchange making accurate throws,
Last season, Knuston was a All-Eastern Kansas League Honorable Mention selection. Here is a look at the recruiting process for Jack Knutson.
PBR: Are you looking for anything in particular in a school? (Example: high academics, certain academic program, local, etc.)
Knutson: My interests geographically are in the Midwest, from the Mississippi River to the Rockies and from Iowa to Southern Texas. Academically, my strongest subjects are math and science. Engineering or medicine are currently an interest I have, however I would not rule out business as well
PBR: How did you do your junior year? What were your high school statistics? And how did your team do? Name some players that will play a key role for Blue Valley Northwest in 2016.
Knutson: My junior year produced mixed results - our high school team had a very good season but we came up short of our goal. We have a strong team, some of the notables would be seniors Cole Duensing, Nick Mehlin, Jack Duke and Nate Vossman. We have some talented juniors and sophomores as well - too many to call out by name. As far as my season, personally, is concerned - it was mixed as well. Defensively, it was a good year at third base in high school and in the outfield and corner infield throughout the summer. Offensively, my bat wasn't as strong as I have been accustomed to throughout the high school season until about the fourth of July. There was a small change in my set-up and approach that I was able to make that doubled my average from the fourth of July through the end of the season -- and that was against some really good, high level, pitching.
PBR: What are you goals for your senior season?
Knutson: To help my team win a state championship.
PBR: What travel team do you play for? Are you playing fall ball with a team?
Knutson: I play for Building Champions. We had a very good team and really great teammates - we were a close knit group. I am not playing fall ball because my football schedule is fairly demanding. I do continue to work on my swing on a regular basis - the fall provides a great time to incorporate some bigger changes that one wouldn't likely mess with during the season. We have identified some areas that, if I continue to put in the work throughout the fall and winter, should produce some positive results.
PBR: Do you play any other sports?
Knutson: I do. I play quarterback and safety for my high school football team.
PBR: What are your ACT and GPA?
Knutson: My ACT score was 26 and I am taking it again this fall. My weighted grade point average is 3.79 and regular GPA is 3.51.
