On Sunday, February 12th, the PBR Missouri and PBR Kansas staffs will travel to the Mac N Seitz facility in Kansas City, MO, to host the MOKAN Preseason All-State. This invite-only event, which is in its fourth year, is set to host several of the most talented 2023-to-2026 graduates from across the two states. Players will participate in a pro-style workout in front of our scouts, gathering verified measurables as well as advanced data through the help of our tech partners.

2023 ROSTER PREVIEW 

+ Two power right-handed arms from the state’s junior class headed our way Sunday: RHP Whit Rhodes (Hesston, 2024; Wichita State commit) and RHP Yale Griffiths (St. Thomas Aquinas, 2024). Rhodes boasts a highly physical 6-foot-3, 210-pound frame with plenty of strength throughout, and we’ve heard reports that he’s climbing into the low-90s as of late. Griffiths came away from the fall as a winner, standing at a long-limbed and projectable 6-foot-3, 187-pounds. His fastball’s been up to 87 mph and, while still developing his secondaries, is an upside arm still on the market to follow in this class.

+ A pair of physical uncommitted junior bats who are high school teammates on this roster: OF/1B Carson Wasinger (Blue Valley North, 2024) and CIF Richard Quinn Groebl (Blue Valley North, 2024). Wasinger doesn’t lack size, bringing a 6-foot-4, 210-pound frame to the diamond. His sheer bat strength is evident when he connects, barreling his firmest batted ball up at 97.9 mph at the MOKAN Top Prospect Games in June with a 352 ft. max distance to pair. Groebl’s 6-foot-4, 220-pound frame is equally as imposing and the inherent strength within his left-handed barrel stands out, surely. He recently pummeled baseballs at the BTL Scout Day, averaging 96.4 mph per batted ball with a 102.9 mph max, generating explosive hand and bat speed in the process.

+ RHP Sam Bettis (Washburn Rural, 2025) stands at a hulking 6-foot-5, 220-pounds on the rubber, and the sophomore standout is amongst the state’s top prospects for his class. We’ve seen Bettis up to 85 mph in the summer, though that’s a number that’s climbed up from what we’ve heard this winter. We’re eager for an up-to-date look at one of the premier arms in the Kansas class this weekend.

+ Two of the most talented 2026 prospects in Kansas are set to make their PBR debuts this weekend: C Beau Peterson (Mill Valley; Nebraska commit) and RHP Max Hamilton (Olathe West). At 6-foot-3, 195-pounds, the left-handed hitting Peterson is ranked seventh overall in the country for his class. He’s a highly projectable athlete with present physicality and no shortage of exuberant talent on the baseball field. At 6-foot-1, 195-pounds, Hamilton certainly doesn’t lack physicality in his own regard, and he’s another prospect that we’ve heard is approaching the 90 mph mark with his fastball. This duo is part of a driving force that is the Kansas’ 2026 class, and we’re certainly looking forward to seeing two elite talents within our state.

+ The twin pairing of INF Milo Burton (Olathe East, 2026) and OF Benjamin Burton (Olathe East, 2026) are both follows in the state’s freshman class, each of them slotted within the top-25 on our state’s board. They’re both lean, lanky athletes with upside to all aspects of their game, and an up-to-date look prior to the start of the high school season is something we’re excited about.
