Inside The KS Rankings: Top Uncommitted 2021 OFs

As we prepare for the most important summer of all time for amateur baseball, PBR KS takes a deeper look into the latest 125 player rankings release for the 2021 class. If you missed the release story for the class, you can find it here. Today, we will highlight the top 6 (we couldn't stop at just 5) uncommitted outfielders in the state according to the rankings. This group features some big bats and projectable athletes.

Chandler Miller, Basehor-Linwood (KS), 2021
Positional Profile: OF High ceiling outfielder with sneaky pop and a lively arm.
Body: 6-foot-2, 165-pounds. Lanky, wiry, highly projectable build.
Defense: Athletic in the field, fluid footwork, strong breakdown, athletic crow hop, feel for himself defensively.
Arm: RH. OF - 88 mph. Long, loose arm action, over-the-top slot; lively arm.
Hit: RHH. Stands tall in the box, slight tilt in bat, toe-tap trigger, long stride.  Some bat speed, short path to the baseball, sprayed line drives to all fields.
Power: 90 mph exit velocity from the tee. Juice, easy feel to find the barrel.
Run: 7.03 runner in the 60. 

Delivery: Works exclusively out of the stretch, tall/fall type delivery, slight hitch at balance point, creates extension downhill, level shoulders, throws in line with his target, athletic finish through release.
Arm Action: RH. Long, loose arm action, high 3/4 slot. Quick, lively arm.
FB: T86, 80-84 mph. Showed some arm-side run, lively action; jumps into the zone.
CB: 67-71 mph. 11/5 shape, late break, feel to spin.
CH: 72-73 mph. Showed slight sinking action.

Cooper Marsh, Mill Valley (KS), 2021
Positional Profile: OF Athletic left/left outfielder with an easy feel for finding the barrel.
Body: 5-foot-11, 175-pounds. Athletic, well-proportioned build.
Defense:  pop times. Athletic actions, active feet, strong breakdown, fields the ball cleanly.
Arm: LH.   OF - 78 mph. Short arm action, high 3/4 slot.
Hit: LHH. Balanced setup, wide base, bat starts back and horizontal, bar load, quick leg lift trigger, short stride.  Quick bat, short, level path through the zone, hands slot inside the baseball, consistent line drive contact.
Power: 88 mph exit velocity from the tee. Easily finds the barrel, steady dosage of hard contact.
Run: 7.02 runner in the 60. Nimble feet.

Body: 6-foot-0, 160-pounds. Lean, athletic build; more projection to come.
Defense:  pop times. Active feet, attacks the baseball, athletic actions in the field.
Arm: RH.   OF - 84 mph. Long, loose arm action, high 3/4 slot.
Hit: RHH. Balanced setup, smooth load, slight leg lift trigger, long stride to even, some rhythm throughout.  Level path to contact, line drive oriented approach.
Power: 84 mph exit velocity from the tee.
Run: 6.88 runner in the 60. Quick motor, easily reaches peak speed.

Bradley Poletis, St Thomas Aquinas (MO), 2021
Positional Profile: OF
Body: 5-foot-11, 180-pounds. Lanky, high-waisted frame.
Defense: Confident actions, athletic in the field, fluid footwork, fields the ball cleanly.
Arm: RH. OF - 88 mph. Long arm action, over-the-top slot.
Hit: RHH. Stands tall in the box, feet start narrow, toe-tap trigger, long stride.  Bat travels in a short path through the zone.
Power: 86 mph exit velocity from the tee.
Run: 7.02 runner in the 60.

Delivery: Works exclusively out of the stretch, tall/fall type delivery, athletic balance point, strong front side, works in line with target, lands square, athletic finish.
Arm Action: RH. Long arm action, high 3/4 slot; quick arm.
FB: T81, 79-80 mph. Plays straight, consistent strikes to his arm side.
CB: 70-73 mph. 11/5 shape, late break. 

 






Scouting Report

2/16/19 - Cox is a 5-foot-7, 150-pound, right-handed hitting outfielder and right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2021 class. He ran a 6.97 60 and posted an exit velocity of 84 mph. During hitting evaluations, Cox uses a simple weight shift into his load, rhythm with hands, in line stride, quick hands, level bat path, repeatable swing, remains balanced throughout. Defensively in the outfield, he is aggressive to the baseball, over the top release, quick strong arm with carry, positional velo of 87 mph (tops at the event), mostly accurate throws. On the mound, Cox has a smooth delivery with some effort, accelerates down the mound, over the top release, clean arm action, fastball sits 78-81, tops at 82 mph, occasional run, thrown for a high percentage of strikes, curveball is 60-63 mph, sharp downward action, 12-to-6 shape, chance to be a plus pitch, changeup is 67-69 mph, occasional cut, near fastball arm speed.

Positional Profile: RHP
Body: 5-foot-11, 200-pounds. Durable build; strong lower half.
Defense: Athletic outfield actions, confident defender, accurate throws.
Arm: RH.  OF - 86 mph. Loose arm action, high 3/4 slot; quick arm.
Hit: LHH. Balanced, open setup, bat lays rested on back shoulder, quick leg kick trigger, short stride, stays balanced through contact.  Loose hands, short, level path through contact, line-drive oriented swing.
Power: 88 mph exit velocity from the tee.
Run: 7.80 runner in the 60. 

Delivery: Feet start balance on rubber, tall/fall type delivery, strong front side, works in line with target, upright finish, works with rhythm.
Arm Action: RH. Long, loose arm action, high 3/4 slot; quick arm.
FB: T85, 84-85 mph. Plays straight with heavy action, primarily strikes.
CB: 70-72 mph. 11/5 shape, late break.
CH: 71-73 mph. Near fastball arm speed, flashed arm-side run.
