On Wednesday, August 5, Prep Baseball Report-Kansas held the Class of 2016 Games at Trusler Sports Complex in Emporia. Nearly 100 uncommitted players in the 2016 class from Kansas and Missouri attended.
Player profiles have been update with times, velocities and videos. Below is a look at the middle infielders from the event. In the days to come, we will break down the outfielders, and pitchers. Middle infielders are listed in alphabetical order. Players rankings will be updated in weeks to come.

Middle Infielders
Jackson Abdon, 2B/SS, Bolivar (MO), 2016
Abdon is a 6-foot 165-pound right-handed hitting middle infielder in Missouri’s 2016 class. He had an exit velo of 84 mph. Starts in an open stance, loads with leg kick, short to contact, level to extension, gap-to-gap approach. Singled in game action, showed good instinct on bases. On the infield, long high three-quarters, 78 mph throw across diamond, clean exchange, feet and hands in sync, accurate throws.
Reed Adams, SS, Maize, 2016
Adams is a 5-foot-11 160-pound right-handed hitting shortstop. He ran a 7.16 60 and had an exit velo of 75 mph. Balanced set-up at the plate, some hand load, short stride, hands work inside the ball, mostly line drives to middle of the field during batting practice. Defensively, 77 mph positional velo, quick transfer and release, three-quarters release, accurate throws.
Patrick Cairns, SS, Blue Valley Southwest, 2016
Cairns is a 6-foot-4 185-pound right-handed hitting shortstop. Cairns ran a 7.46 60 and had an exit velo of 86 mph. Slightly open stance, short stride, quick/aggressive swing, solid contact to middle of the field during batting practice, balanced throughout swing. On the infield, 79 mph positional velo, high three-quarters release, clean actions, made all plays cleanly, soft hands, mostly accurate throws.
Kaleb De La Torre, SS, Fort Scott, 2016
De La Torre is a 6-foot-1 175-pound left-handed hitting middle infielder. He had an exit velo of 85 mph and ran a 7.21 60. Athletic stance, smooth load, minimal stride, loose hands, maintains barrel, solid contact to middle/pull side. Single to right in game action. On the infield, quick feet, quick transfer and release, soft hands, over-the-top release, accurate throws at 77 mph, solid defender.
Alex Elder, SS, Andover, 2016
Elder is a 6-foot-1 175-pound right-handed hitting shortstop. Elder runs a 7.44 60 and has an exit velo of 71 mph. Wide set up, minimal stride and minimal load, hands dominate, quick level path, middle approach. On the infield, over-the-top release, 76 mph positional velo, hands and feet work together, quick transfer and release, mostly accurate throws.
Brock Gilliam, SS, Baschor Linwood, 2016
Gilliam is a 6-foot 175-pound right-handed hitting shortstop. Gilliam ran a 7.02 60 and had an exit velo of 82 mph. Thin and open stance, showed feel for the barrel, maintains barrel, stays inside ball, works middle of field. On the infield, soft hands, quick transfer, over-the-top release, fluid footwork, 82 mph positional velo, one of top infield velos for the event, somewhat accurate throws.
Jack Goodwin, 2B, Rockhurst (MO), 2016
Goodwin is a 5-foot-10 170-pound left-handed hitting second baseman. Goodwin posted an exit velo of 76 mph and run a 7.25 60. Athletic stance, simple and smooth load, no wasted movement, quick bat path, level to extension, line drive approach, gap-to-gap, singled twice in game action, heads up base runner. During defensive evaluations, fluid actions, quick transfer and release, loose three-quarters arm slot, plays through the ball, mostly accurate throws, 75 mph positional velo, showed range on the infield during game action.
Jake Hahn, 2B/SS, Baschor-Linwood, 2016
Hahn is a 5-foot-10 170-pound right-handed hitting middle infielder. Hahn recorded an exit velo of 77 mph and ran a 7.00 60. Thin/balanced stance, short stride with leg lift, worked middle/oppo in batting practice, singled to left with a stolen base in game action. On defense, 79 mph positional velo, hands and feet in syce, quick release, plays through ball, high three quarters release, mostly accurate throws.
Jared Hasik, SS, Liberal, 2016
Hasik is a 5-foot8 165-pound right-handed hitting shortstop. He ran a 7.06 60 and has an exit velo of 79 mph. Athletic set-up at plate, no stride, quick hands, used whole field during batting practice, line drives to both gaps. Singled twice to left field in game action. During defensive evaluations, 74 mph positional velo, loose over-the-top release, plays through ball, momentum towards target to throw, fluid footwork, clean exchange, accurate throws.
Matt Johnson, SS, Haysville Campus, 2016
Johnson is a 5-foot-11 170-pound right-handed hitting shortstop. Johnson runs a 7.00 60 and has an exit velo of 83 mph. Athletic stance, no wasted movement in load, quick hands and bat path, level to extension, stays inside ball, gap-to-gap approach, singled and doubled in game action. Defensively, athletic footwork, soft hands, three-quarters release, quick transfer, accurate throws at 84 mph, one of top for the event.
Brad Kincaid, SS, Lawernce, 2016
Kincaid is a 5-foot-11 190-pound shortstop. Kincaid ran a 7.34 60 and an exit velo of 85 mph. Thin, open stance, toe tap, gap-to-gap approach, power to pull side, quick bat speed. Singled to right field in game action, stole third base. During defensive evaluations, over-the-top release, 82 mph positional velo, one of top infield velos for the event, fluid footwork, clean change, throws with carry, accurate throws.
Zachary Layton, SS, Blue Valley West, 2016
Layton is a 6-foot-1 160-pound right-handed hitting shortstop. He has a 77 mph exit velo and ran a 7.13 30. Starts in open stance, leg kick, aggressive swing speed, maintains barrel, gap-to-gap approach, solid contact during batting practice, doubled in game action, runs bases aggressively. During defensive evaluations, athletic actions, over the top release, soft hands, quick feet, loose arm action, mostly accurate throws at 77 mph.
Trace Maddux, 2B/SS, Haysville Campus, 2016
Maddux is a 5-foot-11 168-pound left-handed hitting middle infielder. He ran a 7.40 60 and has an exit velo of 75 mph. Slightly open at the late, smooth load, level path, quick bat speed, loose hands, works middle/oppo, singled and stole a base during game action. On the infield, solid defender, clean exchange, loose three quarters arm slot, momentum towards first base to throw, 79 mph positional velo.
Conor Phillips, 2B, Maize, 2016
Phillips is a 5-foot-11 165-pound right-handed hitting catcher. Phillips runs a 7.56 60 and has a 76 mph exit velo. He has balanced set up at the plate, smooth load, rhythm in hands, maintains barrel, gap-to-gap approach, lines drives to mostly middle of field during batting practice. On the infield, over-the-release, fluid footwork, clean exchange, 74 mph positional velo, soft hands.
Dawsom Pomeroy, SS, Shawnee Heights, 2016
Pomery is a 6-foot-3 180-pound switch-hitting catcher. From the left side, Pomeroy had an exit velo of 90 mph and an 88 mph exit velo from right side, he ran a 7.40 60. At the plate, starts slightly open on both sides of the plate, short stride, quick hands, level to extension, showed ability to used whole field from both side, loose hands, consistent solid contact on both sides during batting practice. On the infield, event best 89 mph infield velo. On the infield, fluid actions, high-three quarters release, momentum to throw, fields ball in athletic position, clean exchange, quick feet, mostly accurate throws.
Landis Rowden, SS, Wamego, 2016
Rowden is a 5-foot-11 170-pound right-handed hitting shortstop. Rowden ran a 7.53 60 and posted an exit velo of 75 mph. Athletic stance, simple load, no wasted movement, line drive to middle of field, gap-to-gap approach, balanced swing. On the infield, 82 mph positional velo, one of top for the event, loose high three-quarters arm slot, fluid footwork, plays through the ball, clean transfer and release.
Spencer Scalzi, 2B, Gardner Edgerton, 2016
Scalzi is a 5-foot-7 135-pound right-handed hitting second baseman. Scalzi ran a 7.97 60 and had an exit velo of 74 mph. Starts swing with smooth load and leg kick, loose hands, stayed in middle of field during batting practice, doubled during game action. On the infield, 64 mph positional velo, made all plays cleanly, over-the-top release, fluid footwork, clean exchange, accurate throws.
Brenden Shutt, SS, Mill Valley, 2016
Shutt is a 5-foot-11 160-pound right-handed hitting shortstop. Shutt runs a 7.29 60 and has a 75 mph exit velo. Has a line-drive approach to the middle of the field, smooth rhythm, no wasted movement in load, quick hands, good plate discipline during game action. On the infield, 79 mph positional velo, long three-quarters release, fluid footwork, clean exchange, accurate throws, plays with energy.
Vincent Vega, SS/2B, Shawnee Mission Northwest, 2016
Vega is a 5-foot-10 165-pound right-handed hitting middle infielder. He runs a 7.78 60 and has an exit velo of 76 mph. Balanced set-up, minimal load, starts with leg kick, middle/oppo approach, solid contact during batting practice. On the infield, 74 mph positional velo, quick footwork, fields ball in athletic position, quick transfer, accurate.
