Building Champions Scout Day: 2020 Pitchers Analysis

Prep Baseball Report Kansas/Missouri held the Building Champions Scout Day on February 22 at The Yard XL in Olathe, KS. Over sixty-five players participated in the 2022 to 2018 classes.

Player profiles have been updated with running times and velocities along with a video of their performance.

Players can now updated their profiles with a ProspectPlus subscription, while scouts and recruiters can add players on ScoutPlus.

Here is a closer look at the 2020 Pitchers from the event, listed in alphabetical order.

2020 Pitchers

Brayden Ballard RHP / OF / Smith Cotton , MO / 2020

Ballard is a well-built 6-foot-2 185-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri's 2020 class. On the mound, Ballard throws with some effort, quick tempo to delivery, loose high three quarters arm, stride in line down the mound, should tilt up on front side slightly, fastball as occasional arm side run, 80-83 mph, breaking ball at 73-75 mph, gradual 12-to-6 shape on breaking ball, throws a straight change up with near fastball arm speed, 75-77 mph, showed command of all pitches.

Evan Borberg C / RHP / Shawnee Mission Northwest, KS / 2020

Borberg is a 5-foot-9 170-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas' 2020 class. On the mound, Borberg has a controlled leg lift, accelerates tempo down the mound, throws with some effort, high three quarters arms lot, finishes in athletic position, fastball at 78-80 mph, sone with two-seam action, curveball has 12-to-6 shape, sharp and late break, bottom of the zone, 65-67 mph, change up with late sink at 66-69 mph, fastball arm speed, throws for strike.

Nick Broomfield RHP / St. Thomas Aquinas, KS / 2020

Broomfield is a 6-foot-2 210-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas' 2020 class. On the mound, Broomfield works with smooth and controlled tempo, high three quarters arm slot, athletic finish, fastball at 76-77 mph, breaking ball has 12-to-6 shape, 59-60 mph, gradual action, change up with slight sinking action, 65-68 mph, near fastball arm speed.

Max Chapman LHP / OF / Grain Valley, MO / 2020

Chapman is an athletically built 5-foot-11 180-pound left-handed pitcher in Missouri's 2020 class. On the mound, Chapman throws with easy effort at 85-87 mph, comes from a high three quarters arm slot, smooth and repeatable delivery, lands slightly closed, finishes in athletic position, breaking ball at 71-72 mph, late and sharp with command, 12-to-6 downward action, change up at late sink, 73-76 mph, near fastball arm speed, expect increases with ease of delivery and arm action.

Eric Harding RHP / 3B / Leavenworth, KS / 2020

Harding is a 5-foot-9 184-pound right-handed pitcher in Kansas' 2020 class. On the mound, Harding throws with some effort, accelerated at release, works in line down the mound, high three quarters arm slot, fastball at 78-80 mph, breaking ball has 12-to-6 shape, 67-69 mph with occasional sharpness and depth, change up at 72-75 mph, near fastball arm speed, split finger with some running action at 71-72 mph,

Zane Leiker RHP / Park Hill South, MO / 2020

Zane Leiker is a lean 5-foot-10 145-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri's 2020 class. On the mound, Leiker has a three quarters arm slot, loose arm action stays in line down the mound with level shoulders, fastball 78-79 mph, slight running action, 68-71 mph, breaking ball, 11-to-5 slurve-type atcion, thorws for a strike, change up as slight arm side release, throws with fastball arm speed, 73-75 mph, shows command of all pitches.

Nicholas Nauser LHP / Blue Valley West, KS / 2020

Nauser is a 6-foot-1 160-pound left-handed pitcher in Kansas' 2020 class. On the mound, Nauser throws with some deception in tempo and closed off set up, strides in line from the first base side of the rubber, over the top arm slot, some tilt at times, finishes in athletic position, fastball at 76-78 mph, curveball at 64-67 mph, 12-to-6 shape, sharp break to the bottom of the zone, has feel, 64-67 mph, change up has late sink, 70-71 mph, fastball arm speed, throws for a strike.

Brennan Perkins OF / RHP / Rockhurst , MO / 2020

Perkins is a 5-foot-11 180-pound right-handed pitcher in Missouri's 2020 class. On the mound, Perkins works from the first base side of the rubber, throws with some effort at the end of end of delivery, lands slightly closed, repeats delivery, fastball at 81-82 mph, two-seam action at times, breaking ball has 12-to-6 shape, slows arm slightly, commands to the bottom of the zone, change up with near fastball arm speed, slight sinking action, 74-76 mph.

Will Walsh LHP / 1B / Rockhurst, MO / 2020

Walsh is a strong and athletic 6-foot-3 210-pound left-handed pitcher in Missouri's 2020 class. On the mound, Walsh has a controlled delivery, quick and loose over the top arm slot, lands in line with athletic finish, slight tuck at balance point, fastball at 83-85 mph, late life with running action, breaking ball as sharp, 12-to-6 action, has depth, shows command of a change up at 76-77 mph, down in zone, near fastball arm speed, projectable velocity with build and arm action.
