August 8, 2020
EMERSON, GA—The Area Code Games started Thursday at LakePoint and Friday featured the first games. Follow the action on social media and stay tuned for more coverage after the event. Here are some highlights from Saturday's action...
White Sox (2) vs. Yankees (2)
After showing their opponents 100 mph at 8 a.m on Friday, the Yankees rolled out LHP Anthony Solometo (Bishop Eustace HS, NJ). A North Carolina recruit, he’d be a tough at-bat with his stuff on its own. He allowed a run on two hits and a walk while striking out five in two innings.
RHP Ben Kudrna (Blue Valley Southwest HS, KS) started for the White Sox and allowed a run on two hits while striking out three.Yesterday, the Yankees started us with 100. Today, they offer this...Anthony Solometo bringing the funk. Oh and it's 91-93. #MLBDraft @PBRNewJersey

OF Daylen Lile (Trinity HS, KY) has been one of my favorite hitters this summer and he scorched a ball down the right field line today.RHP Ben Kudrna allowed a run and couple hits in the first, but struck out two. 92-95, sharp slider at 83-84. #mlbdraft @PBRKansas pic.twitter.com/l3CWEpnjIm

SS Colson Montgomery (Southridge HS, IN) was 0-for-2 with a walk today, but those two outs were extremely loud.Love this sound. Daylen Lile squares up 94 (97 exit) for a double down RF line. Could've been a triple, but things got a little wonky on the bases. #mlbdraft @PBRKentucky pic.twitter.com/2FviZFay2p

RHP Jackson Wentworth (Waukee HS, IA) closed things out for the White Sox with two innings, allowing two weak hits and a walk while striking out three. His ability to spin a breaking ball was obvious.Colson Montgomery has ripped two balls and nothing to show for it. Lined out to CF (99 exit) earlier and just now got robbed by Kurtis Reid (95). #mlbdraft @PBRIndiana #WebGem pic.twitter.com/NqyAHyHu8W

Jackson Wentworth can spin it. 75-76 with 11/5 depth. 89-91 in two innings of work. Allowed two hits, both were weak contact. #mlbdraft #spinwins #pbrspinzone @PBRIowa pic.twitter.com/AgOCUp2El5

Royals (1) vs. Nationals (6)
RHP Kyle Robinson (Marshall HS, VA) started and went three perfect innings for the Nationals, striking out one.
SS Brady House (Winder-Barrow HS, GA) had a tough start to the Area Code Games, but he did find a barrel in one at-bat today.RHP Kyle Robinson showing feel for a changeup and solid CB with 11/5 shape and depth. 89-91. Texas Tech recruit. #mlbdraft @PBRVirginiaDC pic.twitter.com/u00Cl1WkSB
— Nathan Rode (@NathanRode) August 8, 2020
LHP Philip Abner (Charlotte Christian School, NC) closed out the win with a swing-and-miss fastball, power breaking ball and solid changeup. There it is. Brady House started a little slow this weekend, but he's on it here. Smokes a single through the left side. 97 off the bat. #mlbdraft @PBRGeorgia pic.twitter.com/i9UT7IQDZ7
— Nathan Rode (@NathanRode) August 8, 2020
Good outing for Philip Abner today. 4 Ks over 2 IP. Lots of swing/miss on 91-93 FB. Didn't land SL often, but it's a power pitch. Showed feel for low-80s CH, seen here for a K. #mlbdraft @PrepBaseballNC pic.twitter.com/Weq45qMmKo

Brewers (0) vs. Rangers (7)
The Brewers found a few barrels in their first inning, but only Roc Riggio (Thousand Oaks HS, CA) found a hole. They didn’t get another hit until the seventh.
RHP Ben Bosse (Brenham HS, TX) used a sharp slider and power changeup to stifle the Brewers for three innings, allowing a walk and hit while striking out four.Three barrels in the first for the Brewers. Couple loud outs and this double by Roc Riggio. #mlbdraft @PBR_California pic.twitter.com/R2tuLfksWI

SS Peyton Stovall (Haughton HS, LA) was 1-for-4 with two RBIs.Second strike in this one is the CH. @PBR_Texas pic.twitter.com/GjMjbFADyo

RHP Ryan Johnson (Home School, TX) showed absolute electricity on the bump, pumping strikes with premium stuff. He struck out four and walked one in three innings.‘21 INF Peyton Stovall (LA) finding barrels much like he did all of last summer.

Drops the head on heavy barrel for a loud single that drives in a pair. @RazorbackBSB recruit #MLBDraft@PBR_Louisiana @NathanRode pic.twitter.com/qngRZEaGcl
SS Cameron Cauley (Barbers Hill HS, TX) was 3-for-5 with a triple and two RBIs, showing off the ability to drive the ball to all fields and utilize his speed.Johnson also finishing guys off with a late, sharp SL at 83-86. @#mlbdraft @PBR_Texas pic.twitter.com/vrYItYLT7p

Another hard hit for Cauley, who uses his wheels to beat this one out. 4.0-4.1 down the line. #MLBDraft @PBR_Texas pic.twitter.com/qpxDKYsxmK

Athletics (3) vs. Reds (8)
If you only look at performance, you can miss what guys like RHP Kyle Bender (Vacaville HS, CA) have to offer. Things unraveled for him in the third, as he ultimately allowed six runs (five earned) on three hits, three walks and two hit batters, but his stuff stands out.
RHP Jacob Kmatz (Sandia HS, NM) struck out three and allowed a hit across two innings. With a name like Kyle Bender, you better spin it. And he did. Solid look today. Things fell apart for him in the third, but I like the stuff. Up to 93. Spun average to above CB. Avg CH with chance to be above. #mlbdraft @PBR_California pic.twitter.com/rwDREAjOj6
— Nathan Rode (@NathanRode) August 9, 2020
C Anson Aroz (Placer HS, CA) had two of the A’s three hits today. Also liked RHP Jacob Kmatz. Strong, durable frame. High spin breaking ball (2500-2700) at 74-77. 89-92 FB. Oregon State recruit. #mlbdraft pic.twitter.com/UKynXhyQzG
— Nathan Rode (@NathanRode) August 9, 2020
Wes Kath (Desert Mountain HS, AZ) was 3-for-3 with a triple and showed good defense.C Anson Aroz showed barrel control and loose hands at the plate today. Squared up a double to LC (98 exit) and had a hard single to RF. Oregon recruit. #mlbdraft @PBR_California pic.twitter.com/aA9jyAMBOV
— Nathan Rode (@NathanRode) August 9, 2020
Wes Kath made an athletic play at SS today, charging a slow chopper. He then led off the next inning and just missed a HR, settling for a 3B to RC. 96 off the bat. #mlbdraft @PBRArizona pic.twitter.com/SuR85GS0k1
