2024 MLB Draft: Top 50 JUCO Prospects

David Seifert
Director of College Scouting

The 2024 NJCAA baseball season has come to a close with Blinn (TX), LSU-Eunice and RCSJ-Gloucester claiming the DI, DII and DIII National Championships, respectively.

Northwest Florida State was the runner-up to Blinn at the DI JCWS which is where our No. 1 overall prospect continued to shine.

Mack Estrada completed his true freshman season for the Raiders, striking out 16 in 10.1 innings in Grand Junction and overall he finished with a 9-1 record and 94 strikeouts in 79 innings pitched. His fastball will touch the mid-90s, but it's his breaking stuff that allows him to slice through opposing lineups. The power right-hander has committed to Florida State for next season.

Just behind the NW Florida right-hander at No. 2 in our rankings is New Mexico infielder Brent Iredale. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound Aussie had a monster season, slugging 25 home runs and a .441 batting average for the Firebirds. He also stole 25 bases and walked (47) more than he struck out (32). Iredale has committed to Arkansas for next season.

Dropping from No. 1 in our midseason rankings to No. 3, Pearl River's Connor Ware returned late in the season from an arm injury. He managed to pitch just 15 innings this spring, but struck out 21 and allowed just ten hits and three earned runs. The LSU recruit still has all the makings of a high round pick in the future, but good health must return.

Overall, the 2024 JUCO class lacks a sure-fire Day One draft talent, but it's a deep group that should see several prospects selected during Day Two. With three of the top ten prospects, the state of Florida once again looks to be a hotbed of JUCO talent. Mississippi is second with two in the top ten and Texas place four in our top 15.
