The Tigers controlled most of game one but the host Indians took the lead in the bottom of the 6th and went on to win 5-4 then controlled much of the game in game two and completed the sweep 9-2. The Tigers (2-2) just couldn't string together consecutive hits and the Indians were able to string multiple extra base hits together in key situations all day long.
Senior Jacob Shike pitched another solid ball game for the Tigers in game one. Strike struck out 7 while walking none but hit a man. All five runs were earned, four of which came in the pivotal sixth inning. The Tigers had the lead for much of the game and it got started early. Senior Jacob Shapiro led off the game with a base on balls, moved to 2nd on a wild pitch, was then moved over on a fielders choice. Finally, he was driven in by Matt Beard when he grounded out. The Indians tied it up in their half of the first. Both sides would then settle into a pitcher's dual until the fifth when the Tigers were able to scratch out a run. Senior Zach Butner doubled to leadoff the inning, would then be moved over, then singled home by junior Mitchell Starkey. The sixth would then see the Tigers extend their lead as Shapiro again would leadoff with a walk, would be moved to third after a double by junior Mason Schaller. Shike would help his cause by hitting a hard ball to the right side that would drive in both Shapiro and Schaller to extend the lead to 4-1. The Tigers would then fall in the 6th, giving up 4 earned runs in the bottom half.
The second game started like the first with the Tigers going ahead 1-0 after the top of inning number one. Schaller tripled and would score on a sacrifice fly by Beard. The Tigers only other run came off the bat of freshman Colton Ranney, making his varsity debut, and in his first career at bat, sent the 0-1 offering over the right field fence for his first career HR. After that, the Tigers would only collect one more hit.
