Top Uncommitted Juniors - Pitcher Superlatives

Our 2025 class rankings were updated this week and now we turn our focus to the top tools that are still available in Indiana's junior class. These tools are derived from both showcase performances, along with in-game evaluations done by our staff throughout the 2023 spring, summer, and fall. Read along to find out which junior arms made the list with standout traits.

Fastball

Wilson holds down the top spot with the hardest recorded fastball (91.5 mph) we have of any uncommitted 2025 arm. The stocky, 6-foot-2, 205 pound right-hander not only throws a firm fastball, but it comes from a 3/4 arm slot that allows for significant arm-side run (video).
Wilson holds down the top spot due to pure velocity, but Lucas Collins follows because of his fastball's ride/run properties that allow him to consistently get swing-and-miss over the plate. Collins, an athletic, 6-foot southpaw, has run his fastball up to 87 mph, but averages over 15" of arm-side run on the fastball along with up to 21" of Induced Vertical Break (IVB). Collins is currently the top ranked uncommitted left handed pitcher in the class.
Pennington, the #2 ranked uncommitted RHP in the class, checks in at #3 on this list and owns some very unique fastball traits. The athletic, 6-foot righty works from both a high 3/4 & a sidearm slot - reaching 90 mph from H 3/4 & climbing into the mid-80s from the sidearm slot. The H 3/4 fastball has life through the zone, creating over 20" of IVB at times, while his sidearm fastball has over 20" of arm-side run.
Rounding out this group, we have Trent Kulig. Kulig, a physical, 6-foot-3, 205 pounder with strength in the lower half, attacks hitters with a powerful right-arm and produces a fastball up to 90 mph. The fastball will flash cutting action at times and the velocity has a chance to continue to tick up. Kulig is currently ranked as the top uncommitted prospect in the 2025 class.
Breaking Ball

Warner (video) owns the best breaking ball of any uncommitted '25 arm. The 6-foot-4, 200 pound southpaw tunnels a true sweeper off of his running fastball, throwing both from a deceptive, low 3/4 slot (5' release height). The slider averages over 21" of sweep with minimal depth, a true side-to-side offering. Warner spins it at over 2700 RPMs and is able to get swing-and-miss with the slider from both right-handed and left-handed hitters.
Changeups

Mastalski (video) boasts the top changeup of an uncommitted prospect in the class and uses it frequently in-game. The Andrean product is comfortable throwing the changeup in any count and the pitch comes out of the hand with fastball arm speed. The 6-foot-3, 200 pounder is able to kill spin to fade his upper-70s change - getting swing-and-miss and groundball contact.
Dorsey doesn't throw a traditional changeup, but rather uses a low-to-mid 70s splitter with late tumble. Regardless, the pitch serves the same purpose as the changeup and is very effective in-game. The Cathedral product kills spin on the splitter to create late tumble and the "uniqueness" of the pitch creates a tough look for opposing hitters.

Cotton, a Future Gamer for Team Indiana in 2023, looks the part of a potential next-level starter with a projectable, 6-foot-4, 200 pound frame, low-effort delivery, and feel for a three-pitch mix. The arm works free & easy with balance throughout the delivery that allows him to compete in the zone at an above average clip. Cotton (video) worked his fastball up to 88 mph this fall, while showing the ability to land a mid-70s breaking ball and fade an upper-70s changeup.
Mastalski appears again here, due largely to his ability to throw his three-pitch mix for strikes at will. The Andrean product uses a balanced, low-effort delivery and has loose arm action that works from a 3/4 release point. The 6-foot-3, 200 pound right-hander works in the mid-80s (T87 mph) on a running fastball that pairs very well with an advanced changeup. Mastalski rounds out his three-pitch mix with a sweeping, low-70s slider.
Micinski was a riser in our recent 2025 update thanks to a strong fall season. A projectable arm standing at 6-foot-3, 165 pounds - Micinski is able to carry (18"- 20" of IVB) his mid-to-upper 80s fastball to get above barrels, while tunneling a 12/6 curveball in the low-70s. Micinski's projectable frame, along with his ability to go up & down in the strikezone with above average command, makes it easy to project him as a starter long-term.
Strike-Throwers

Branigin (video) may not boast the loudest "stuff" in the class, but the 6-foot southpaw is a consistent strike-thrower that competes with three pitches on a regular basis. The Andrean product lives down in the zone with an 80-83 mph fastball that he is comfortable commanding to his arm-side of the plate, while also keeping right-handed hitters honest with the ability to go glove-side with the fastball. Branigin is confident in flipping over an upper-60s curveball with depth & "pulls the string" on a low-70s changeup thrown with fastball arm speed.
French was a standout for Penn HS as a sophomore, allowing just 13 walks in 47 IP en route to posting a 5-2 record with a 1.19 ERA, helping Penn to its second consecutive 4A State Championship. The wiry, athletic, 6-foot-3, 175 pounder pitches from a high, over-the-top arm slot with a fastball that has reached 87 mph. French is confident in his 70-72 mph curveball, a pitch with great shape that he is able to get chase on, and also offers the ability to kill spin on a 78-81 mph changeup.
Engle was selected to our 2A All-State team following the spring of 2023 after he posted a 9-3 record with 111 strikeouts, allowing just 26 walks in 78 IP during his sophomore campaign. The 6-foot-1, 190 pounder pitches in the low-80s (T85) with a fastball that he shows consistent command for. The fastball shows some carry from his 3/4 arm slot and he tunnels a slurvey, low-70s breaking ball off the fastball. Engle rounds out his three-pitch mix with a mid-70s straight change.
