Super 60 Preview : Hoosier State Edition

Super 60 week is upon us and the Hoosier State will be well represented in 2024, with 7 Indiana natives slated to travel to The Max in McCook, Illinois in order to showcase their talents in front of more than a hundred professional scouts that are expected to be in attendance.
This prestigious, invitation-only event features only the top draft prospects in the Prep Baseball's expansive coverage area. Over the last 20-plus years, the Super 60 has become the most heavily scouted preseason event for its assembly of MLB Draft prospects, signaling the start of the season's march to the draft itself. The primary purpose of the Super 60 is to give professional area scouts, crosscheckers, and scouting directors a head start to the high school season. The event is for draft-eligible Class of 2024 prospects.
In 2023, we saw 2 of the 3 Super 60 attendees from Indiana get selected in the MLB Draft. Max Clark was taken 3rd overall to the Detroit Tigers, and Bishop Letson was selected in the 11th round by the Milwaukee Brewers. Jayce Lee OF / Saint Joseph, IN / 2024Lee, a former Future Games standout and participant in the inaugural Prep Baseball All-American Game, enters the weekend with significant buzz due to an athletic, 6-foot-4, 185 pound frame and five tool upside. A loose-wristed swing that works uphill with plenty of bat speed, combined with the projectable frame, makes it easy to dream on power being a legitamite future tool for the Notre Dame recruit. A graceful athlete in the outfield combined with arm strength that is a present tool allows future projections as a defensive asset at the next level. Lee will look to put these tools on full display in front of an array of professional scouts at the Super 60.

Cameron Sullivan RHP / Mt Vernon, IN / 2024Sullivan enjoyed a successful junior campaign, culminating in his outstanding showing on the fall circuit that garned interest from scouts around the area. The quick-armed right-hander reached into the mid-90s during the fall of 2023, adding some electricity into a three-pitch mix that is highlighted by a sharp, late-breaking slider that works into the mid-80s. An athletic, 6-foot-2, 200 pounder - there is obvious body control in the way Sullivan moves down the slope and his arm works with quickness and whip. The Notre Dame signee will look to further cement himself as a spring follow for area scouts with a strong performance this weekend.

Caden McCoy LHP / Bloomington North, IN / 2024A physical, 6-foot-3, 220 pound southpaw - McCoy looks the part of a future starter with his durable build and abilities to consistently compete in the strike zone with swing-and-miss stuff. The Texas A&M signee delivers a heavy fastball with ride/run properties, touching 91 mph in his junior season, and compliments it with a future plus offering in his sharp slider with two-plane break. An above average changeup affirms his next-level starter status, along with the bulldog mentality that he carries to the mound. A crossfired delivery and 3/4 arm slot adds some deception to the operation that only adds to his projections as a future workhorse starter.

Hogan Denny C / Mooresville , IN / 2024The calling card for Denny is undoubtedly his right-handed bat, and he will look to show off the state's top hit tool in front of the crowd of professional scouts traveling to The Max. Built with compact strength in a 6-foot, 190 pound frame, the Indiana recruit boasts a well-sequenced swing with quick hands and an intent to do damage in the box. Denny wowed the Indiana staff at the 2023 Preseason All-State, where 80% of the balls hit in his batting practice round eclipsed the 100 mph mark. A primary catcher with the versatility to play the corners with above average arm strength - Denny will look to walk away from the Super 60 as one of the best bats in attendance.

Griffin Tobias RHP / Lake Central High school, IN / 2024An Indiana signee, Tobias offers all-kinds of athleticism on the bump with the swagger to match. Tobias is an elite mover down the slope that produces a low-90s (T 93 mph) fastball that jumps out of the hand with significant carry. The arm speed stands out, and contributes to his abilitiy to spin a tight, mid-to-upper 70s slider that routinely creates chase. The arm talent, mixed with advanced body control, the arm speed, and a competitor's mindset, allows for starter upside - Griffin may be my 'pick-to-click' amongst this group of talented pitchers to leave the Super 60 as a must-follow spring arm.

Ethan Lund LHP / Hamilton Southeastern, IN / 2024Nobody on this list saw their stock rise more during 2023 than this projectable, 6-foot-5, 205 pound lefty. With a fastball up to 93 mph and a frame to dream on, Lund will toe the rubber at the Super 60 in the hopes of further boosting his draft stock heading into his senior season. An Oklahoma State recruit - Lund offers a powerful riding fastball that tunnels exceptionally well with his best offering, a power curveball that reaches into the low-80s, one of the top breaking balls in the class. A high-waisted frame with plenty of room for growth combined with two swing-and-miss offerings makes Lund an interesting draft prospect heading into the Super 60.

Isaac VanderWoude SS / Illiana Christian, IN / 2024A Virginia recruit that can flat out turn a barrel - VanderWoude enters the Super 60 looking to impress the crowd of scouts with his abilities in the left-handed batters box. VanderWoude did nothing but hit in 2023, leading his high school team to a state championship before putting a consistent summer together on the circuit. A versatile, plug-and-play defender with a bat-first profile - VanderWoude's offensive abilities, combined with a mental makeup that will be an asset for him at the next level, garned interest from professional scouts last summer and he will look to reaffirm his status amongst the best left-handed bats in the Midwest during the Super 60.
