New No. 1
Drake McClurg OF / Center Grove High School, IN / 2027Athlete. McClurg shined as a freshman playing Centerfield for top-ranked Center Grove and the athleticism that surrounds a dynamic toolset shoots him to the top of the class. Already verbally committed to Indiana, McClurg owns elite foot-speed that he showed off while playing three varsity sports as a freshman for Center Grove - and also with a 6.59 lasered 60 at our Preseason All-State. A switch-hitter with all-kinds of confidence at the dish, there is some electricity in the way his hands deliver the barrel into the zone to allow for more impact than the 5-foot-11, 170 pound frame suggests. A dynamic, top-of-the-lineup profile - McClurg walked nearly double the amount of times he struck out this spring, reaching base at a .527 clip in his debut season. |
New Faces in the Top-10
Cole Cheatham RHP / Union County, IN / 2027Rankings StateRank: 5 / POS: 2
Offering an explosive look that is unmatched within the class - Cheatham is beginning to grow into his 6-foot-2, 195 pound frame and the fastball has ticked up to 90 mph multiple times in early summer looks. There is still room for growth within the high-waisted, physical look and Cheatham should trend into a real power arm with a work-horse type frame to go with it. There is rawness to the delivery as he coils into a bigger inward turn and attacks downhill with intent. Cheatham flashes an above-average, 12/6 shaped curveball that works at 72-75 mph, along with a sinker at 83-85 mph that flashes significant arm-side life & sink. He showed a change in the bullpen / warmups, but still a pitch that needs to be refined. The fastball is his best pitch at the moment, a heavy heater that flashes carry and overpowers bats in the strike zone. The physical right-hander punched out 91 batters in 48 IP in his freshman campaign and sees himself rise as one of the top-ranked arm in the class within this update.

Mason Meyer 3B / OF / Mt Vernon, IN / 2027Rankings StateRank: 8 / POS: 1
Offering one of the best hit-tools in the class, Meyer is a multi-sport athlete that shines as one of our favorite "gamers" in the class. There is compact strength present in the 5-foot-10, 165 pound frame that allows for impactful flick in a short, repeatable path. Meyer showed the ability to impact the baseball against premier velocity as a freshman for Mt. Vernon this spring, and he also shows present feel for the strike-zone with very little chase / swing-and-miss in his game. A 6.90 60 time adds some excitment to the hit-tool - and defensive versatility is another interesting layer within the profile. Meyer is an above-average defender in the outfield, as well as on the dirt, and also is one of the better defensive catchers in the class. A swiss-army knife defender that can really game hit - Meyer cracks the Top-10, checking in at #8 in this update.

Jackson Harris C / 1B / Carmel High School, IN / 2027Rankings StateRank: 10 / POS: 1
Harris is an exciting prospect, a 6-foot-1, 170 pound catcher with big upside in the left-handed batter's box. The swing works with fluidity and there is easy gap power present, with more on the way as he matures into strength, and the bat works on an ideal plane to optimize contact. Harris saw time as a freshman behind the dish for Carmel - handling a staff of division one recruits early in his high school career. He is a very solid receiver with an ideal frame for a backstop, and offers above-average catch and throw abilities. Harris has established himself as a must-follow '27 bat and continues to trend in the right direction as a defender.
