Spring Rankings Update : Class of 2026

Cooper Trinkle
Lead Scout

As we near the beginning of summer baseball, a vital time for recruiters to identify 2026 prospects before recruiting opens for the class on August 1st of 2024, we have made a small update within our 2026 prospect rankings. Read along to learn about the shake-up within our Top 10, a handful of risers that boosted their stock, along with a 2026 'Cheat Sheet' for recruiters planning to hit the Hoosier State this summer.

Find the full list, updated & expanded to 200 prospects, HERE

+ RHP Hudson Devaughan (Mooresville ; Alabama) remains at the top of the list, a 6-foot-4, 195 pound righty that reached 95 mph this spring (clip) on his fastball, along with maintaining a 6-0 record, 1.65 ERA, and 59 K's in 34 IP through sectionals. SS Dylan Bowen (Hanover Central) and RHP Aiden Smith (Shelbyville) are the top-ranked uncommitted prospects within the class and continue to hold down the #2 and #3 spots, respectively.

+ RHP Sammy Swank (McCutcheon ; Kentucky) is our first riser within the Top-10, checking in at #4 in this update. Offering a more-physical look this spring, the 6-foot-4, 205 pound right-hander experienced a tick in his overall stuff and velocity during his freshman season, and continued to trend in a similiar fashion as a sophomore this spring. Our staff saw Swank multiple times this spring, up to 94 once, while consistently holding his fastball in the low-90s. Swank was dominant this high school season, offering a three pitch mix for strikes that is highlighted by a fastball with plenty of life, en route to a 4-0 record with 58 K's in 38 IP through sectionals.

+ Two highly-touted, uncommitted arms appear next, with LHP Beckett Doane (Noblesville) at #5 and RHP Kobe Cherry (Center Grove) at #6. Both were Future Gamers in '23 that have created significant buzz around themselves heading into the recruiting season. Doane boasts an ultra-projectable, 6-foot-6 frame that is paired with a four pitch mix and fastball that reached 89 mph (clip) this spring. Cherry, a multi-sport standout with a workhorse build at 6-foot-4, 235 pounds, offers a powerful fastball that reaches 92 mph along with a breaking ball that has present swing-and-miss traits.

+ OF Rob Czarniecki (Chesterton) is our next riser, a physical, athletic, 6-foot-2, 195 pound right-handed hitter that has emerged as one of the most impactful offensive players in the class, appearing now at #7. Czarniecki broke out in a major way this spring, batting .478 with 10 2B, 5 3B, 6 HR through sectionals. To go along with an innate ability to game-hit, Czarniecki also offers a run tool (6.71), arm strength (90 OF), to go along with present bat speed.

+ At #8 we have 3B Aiden Reynolds (Noblesville ; Indiana) who has been a mainstay within the Top 10 since the class rankings were first released, and had a very solid year as one of the HCC's best bats, as only a sophomore. The Indiana recruit maintained a .373 average, while posting 8 3B, 1 3B, and 1 HR, while reaching base at a .525 clip.

+ 3B/RHP Jake Winger (McCutcheon) is the only new face in the Top 10 amongst the group. The projectable, athletic, 6-foot-3, 210 pound right-handed hitter was a riser after our Preseason All-State in March, and finds himself moving to #9 within the class after batting .442 this spring with 12 2B, 1 3B, 2 HR, and 35 RBI in his sophomore campaign. His present ability to hit, along with a long-levered frame that suggests even more juice is on the way, creates an exciting prospect for recruiters to follow this summer, especially when paired with his two-way upside (easy 88 on the bump).

+ OF Colt Dehart (Indian Creek) rounds out the Top 10. A projectable, athletic, left-handed hitter with a toolsy profile. Dehart is an above-average runner (6.85 60), with arm strength, and impactful flick within a smooth left-handed stroke that holds significant power potential.

More Risers in the Top 50

Gannon Grant RHP / SS / Center Grove High School, IN / 2026

Successful spring on both sides of the ball, holds legitamite two-way upside as a prospect. Offensively, has began to impact the baseball (15 XBH - 10 2B, 4 HR) due to improved physicality compared to his freshman season, now stands at 6-foot-2, 185 pounds. At the moment, Grant is further ahead on the mound where his stuff has trended right along with the body. I got a look on Gannon in the sectional semi, where he ran a fastball with arm-side life up to 91 mph, sitting at 88-90, and snapped off a real swing-and-miss breaking ball that spun at 2800+ at 73-75 mph.

Peyton Gray 3B / RHP / Hertige Hills , IN / 2026

From May 14, 2024 - "I was extremely impressed with Gray in my look this spring as he is beginning to blossom into real physicality. Standing at 6-foot-3, 195 pounds, the Western Kentucky recruit already looks the part of a next-level, left-side infielder with still two-plus years of growth to be had before he reaches the college level. Gray's ability to defend really stuck out in this look - he showed the ability to play left & right, along with downhill, with extremely confident hands. Peyton can really catch & throw, one of the best infield arms in the class, as he was up to 92 mph across the diamond at the Preseason All-State in March. Gray came up hitless in my look, but the right-handed hitter showed improvements in his bat strength compared to in-game looks previously."

Reaffirming my thoughts on Gray in the spring, he finished his sophomore season with 8 doubles, 2 triples, and 3 homers, slugging .679. Gray continues to trend upward as a position player with two-way abilities still very much in play, an upside right-handed arm that competes in the strike zone with above-average stuff (84-86) (clip).

Lannon Nicoloff SS / RHP / Harrison, IN / 2026

A Preseason All-State standout, switch-hitting shortstop with the ability defend at a high level. Heard multiple good reports on him this spring, along with a couple strong performances when our staff got eyes on him. Athletic, 6-foot, 185 pounder, 7.11 runner, smooth swing from the left-side, shorter, contact-oriented approach from the right. Boasts enough arm strength to stay on the left-side, holds some two-way upside, as well.

Cayden Stockbridge RHP / Penn, IN / 2026

Sophomore arm that has continously trended upwards. Threw leverage innings out of the bullpen for Penn this season, fills the zone with a three-pitch mix, highlighted by a ride/run fastball that works at 85-86 mph that is paired with sharp spin that works in the mid-70s. A lot left in the 6-foot-2, 175 pound frame. Arm works with a loose whip with present athleticism in the strike-thrower's delievery.

Jace Watson C / OF / Castle, IN / 2026

Watson put together a very solid sophomore campaign, hitting out of the middle of the Castle lineup and helping them to a sectional title. A physical, 6-foot-2, 200 pound LHH C/OF, there is raw strength in a short, impactful stroke that translates to mid-to-upper 90s exit velocities. Watson batted .354 for the Knights this spring, collecting 6 2B, 3 3B, and a walk to K ratio of 18 to 13.

Tyler Denny OF / C / Mooresville, IN / 2026

Denny has been a catalyst for Mooresville this spring, a club that is 29-3 and just took home a sectional title. The speedy, athletic, 5-foot-10, 165 pound centerfielder turned in a 6.67 60 at the Preseason All-State in March. Denny showed more impact this spring with the bat, grabbing 6 doubles and 3 homers with a short, whippy stroke, while also stealing 17 bases. He's young for the class (still 15) suggesting there is more room for growth within the operation.

Xavier Hemingway RHP / Bloomington South, IN / 2026

Rankings  StateRank: 41 / POS: 20

Another young sophomore (still 15) with tons of upside. Hemingway stands at 6-foot-3, a projectable frame with ample room to add. The Bloomington South product is an excellent mover with a loose arm that works freely to a 3/4 arm angle. The fastball works with some carry, along with arm-side life, at 80-83 mph currently, a number that will jump sooner-rather-than later. Hemingway pairs the fastball with a sweeping, low-70s slider, a pitch that will sharpen up as he matures further into more velocity. A reliable strike-thrower with a starter's profile, Hemingway walked just 5 batters in 43.2 innings this spring.

Collin Ash OF / LHP / Roncalli, IN / 2026

From May 2, 2024 - Ash is a sophomore follow that has gained helium with our staff after a strong performance at the Preseason All-State and a strong start to the 2024 spring season. An athletic, 5-foot-10, 170 pounder - Ash profiles best as a LHH outfielder with a solid run tool (6.95) and a quick, efficient, left-handed stroke. Ash sets up in an athletic, relaxed stance and his hands load as he gains ground within the stride, creating stretch. Quick hands deliver the barrel on a flatter path, and he works on-plane throughout. There is above-average strength at impact and he should grow into more as he matures. Ash showed arm strength on the bump in this look, which translates to the outfield, and he ran his best fastball up to 85 mph with quick, compact arm action.

Tristan Yerman C / OF / Center Grove, IN / 2026

Yerman is the best receiver in the class and my favorite defender behind the dish of any '26 in the state. The undersized, 5-foot-8, 165 pounder plays with infectious energy and boasts ultra-soft hands that helps him steal strikes. Yerman is an exceptional mover laterally with feel to block, and he has a quick transfer with above-average arm strength, unafraid to back-pick. Offensively, the right-handed swing works short with a contact-oriented, line drive approach. While the glove is the carrying tool, Yerman batted .309 with 9 XBH this spring.

Brock Kintner OF / 1B / Columbus North, IN / 2026

Kintner had a successful spring for the Bulldogs, batting .403 out of the Columbus North 3-hole as a sophomore. A physical, 6-foot-1, 195 pounder, Kintner moves well for his size (7.18 runner) and possesses projectable bat strength with exit velocities that already surpass 95 mph.

Hayden Werner RHP /  Fishers High School, IN / 2026

A projectable, high-waisted, 6-foot-2, 175 pound righty that continues to trend in the right direction. Our staff has seen Werner up to 85 mph on his ride/run fastball, paired with a mid-70s slider that holds upside. The stuff should continue to improve as he continues to mature with properties to suggest he will be able to get outs with the fastball. Werner struck out 27 in 27 IP for Fishers this spring, walking only 12.

Luke Arnett 1B / Bloomington South, IN / 2026

Arnett is a physical left-handed hitting first baseman with a run-producer's profile. The 6-foot-3, 210 pounder boasts significant barrel strength, reaching a 98 mph exit velocity at the Preseason All-State and backing that with 5 doubles and 3 homers this spring, shooting him into the Top 50 in the class.
