Bloomington, IN ? Northview came into Tuesday?s game 5-0 this year, but Bloomington North was the team that managed to stay undefeated moving to 3-0. North was able to score in every inning, but the second on their way to posting a 13 run day. Senior Clint Jones started picked up the win for North throwing 4 1/3 and Junior Tyler Hurt threw the final 2 2/3 not allowing a run. Junior Kodie Girton started for Northview and kept the game close for the first three innings, but the relief pitching allowed the game to open up in the 5th.
The game was tight back and forth battle for the first four innings. North jumped out to an early lead scoring a run in the bottom of the first, but
Northview answered back in the top of the second with a two run homerun from Senior Andrew Butts and a wild pitch giving them a 3-1 lead after two innings. North was able to tie up the game in the bottom of the third, but Northview again answered scoring a run in the top of the 4th. North put up two runs in the bottom of the 4th and would to relinquish the lead the rest of the game.
The 5th inning was when the game really opened up and North was able to cruise to the win from there. North was able to bat around in the bottom of the 5th scoring six runs on six hits and a walk. Junior Jason Jolivette had a two run double, then would get hit home by Senior Gavin Funkhouser. Senior Carlos Gould would knock in Funkhouser which was followed by a two run homerun by Jones to give North an 11-4 lead after five innings. North managed to score two more in the bottom of the sixth leaving the bases loaded. North managed 16 hits, lead by Junior Michael Oliphant with three, with nine for extra bases. Northview came in swinging their bats well and did collect nine hits, lead by Senior Seth Lensford with three.
