RHP Curry Touches 88 in Win Against No. 14 Fishers

McCutcheon’s junior RHP Justin Curry had a phenomenal game both on the mound and at the plate Saturday evening.  Curry led the McCutcheon Mavericks past No. 14 Fishers 2-1.

Both teams played well on the defensive end through the first couple of innings.  McCutcheon was able to break through with two runs in the third inning.  Jesse Quintanilla (2012) grounded out up the middle to score Austin Kiracofe (2013) for the Mavericks first run.  Curry then knocked in the second run of the inning on a base hit up the middle, scoring Henry Gray (2013).  Curry’s RBI single would end up being the difference in the game as Fishers scored their only run in the sixth off of a fielder’s choice from Cameron VanderBerg (2012) that brought in John A. Logan commit Matt Wooldwine (2012).

Justin Curry, a 5-foot-9 right handed junior, was 85-86 mph consistently while touching 88 a handful of times.  Curry did a good job keeping hitters off balance the whole game as he started off with fastballs and changeups (78-79), but slowly started working in his curveball the second time in through the lineup.  Curry threw all seven innings and got the win, only giving up one earned run on six hits and striking out seven.

Final: McCutcheon 2 – Fishers 1

McCutcheon – Curry (2-3, 1RBI), Andrew Roginski (2013, 2-3), Gray (1-3, 1R)

Fishers – Woolwine (2-4, 1SB, 1R), Jon Cordell (2012, 2-3, 2B)
