Coach Justin Bock returns for another season at the reins of the Fremont Eagles. Coach Bock guided a promising squad to a 7-3 record in the Northeast Corner Conference while going 15-14 overall. The Eagles will be experienced as seven starters and four pitchers return from the 2012 squad.
Leading the way for Fremont is Xavier signee Glen McClain. McClain is a senior catcher who batted .426 with 42 RBI’s and 7 home-runs in 2012. Fellow senior Jake Bryant is a speedy outfielder who swiped 31 bases last season.
A trio of juniors are expected to play huge roles this season including Brock Baker (RHP/MIF), Alex Beams (P/SS), and Kaleb Hayes (LHP/1B). Baker was solid at the plate, collecting ten doubles and three home-runs. Beams will be a key run producer in Fremont’s lineup after knocking in 19 runs in 2012. Hayes will be counted on to be a workhouse in the Eagles rotation after going 5-1 last year.
The Eagles will compete for a NECC title with defending champion Fairfield, Angola, and Westview.
