Preseason All-State Underclass Spotlight: 2022 OF Keaton Mahan

Phil Wade
Indiana Executive Director

The annual Invite Only Preseason All-State Underclass Showcase for the top 2022-2024 prospects is coming up Saturday March 7th at Roundtripper Sports Academy in Westfield, IN. Leading up to the event we will highlight some of the top players to be in attendance.

Scouting Report

9/13/19:  Left/left center fielder, Keaton Mahan (Westfield HS, IN) stood out as arguably the top uncommitted player on the field when the Indiana Bulls matched up against the Canes Midwest in the 16U semi-final. Mahan made multiple plays in the outfield look routine, ranging with ease and taking proper routes. Mahan is a natural in center field and covers much more ground than his posted 60 time (7.13) would indicate. At the plate, he has a top-of-the-order profile, with an open, quiet setup and simple easy swing. Mahan’s hands work on top of the baseball and he backspun an-extra base hit to the pull-side gap. Currently ranked No. 5 in Indiana and No. 178 overall.

2/23/2019: Keaton Mahan, OF/1B, Delta HS, 2022, 6 foot 1, 175 pounds, stands tall and slightly open on the left side. Uses a small leg kick to get to launch. Barrels balls consistently, swing plane is good. Projects to have future gap power with added strength as his bat speed is above average for his age and his frame should fill out. Ran a 7.27 and had an exit velo of 91 mph. Threw 78 mph from the outfield and needs to improve footwork and release. Keaton is a high follow in the 2022 class.
