Preseason All-State 2020 Spotlight: LHP Tyler Nemtuda

Phil Wade
Indiana Executive Director

The annual Invite Only Preseason All-State showcase for the state's top Junior prospects is coming up February 16th at Roundtripper Sports Academy in Westfield, IN. Leading up to the event we will be highlighting some of the top prospects to be in attendance.

Scouting Report

9.17.18: Uncommitted, currently ranked No. 37 in Indiana’s 2020 class. 6-foot, 170-pound left-handed pitcher with athletic build. Fastball ranged between 80-84 with occasional arm-side run, and mixed in a 69-70 slurve. Inconsistent around the zone against the Nebraska Prospects.

9.14.17: Nemtuda has continued an upward trend in velocity that saw him jump to 83-85 with his fastball at the Future Games in August with even more, likely, on the way. The quick-armed left-hander repeats his delivery with ease, and uses a longer stride to deliver closer to the plate. His free and easy delivery allows him to find his high ¾ arm slot routinely, and deliver fastballs down in the zone with natural arm side run. Nemtuda’s changeup (74-75) is the pitch that he relies more heavily on, currently, and it features some late fading action while being thrown for strikes. His breaking ball took 2/8 shape at 67-70, and while it is a developing pitch, his loose arm makes me believe that it has a change to crossover into a firmer slider in the future. Overall, Nemtuda’s athleticism and loose left arm make him a player that recruiters will want to monitor closely moving forward.

7.3.17: 5-foot-10, 150-pound, lanky, athletic left-handed pitcher. Smooth delivery, works form a high ¾ arm slot, keeps body on-line, finishes falling towards third base. Fastball, run action, 81-83 mph. Changeup, fade, had feel for, 74-75 mph. Curveball, 2/8 shape, slows arm, 67 mph. Sparingly used curveball, relied more on changeup.
