Indiana HS Player of the Week: Michael Dierckman

The 2023 high school season is off and running here in the Hoosier State and our week one player of the week, Michael Dierckman (Carroll HS) started off with a bang. The senior OF/RHP hit .700 on the week with two doubles, seven stolen bases and also picked up the win on the mound against No. 2 Floyd Central, pitching 4 2/3 scoreless innings with six strikeouts. Dierckman recently committed to Manchester University.

Scouting Report

Michael Dierckman, Carroll, 2023, IN

Position: OF/RHP

Body: 6-foot, 165-pound lean build.

Hit: (RHH) Confident. Starts in a tall wide stance with a quick load, then uses a toe tap stride. Developing bat speed. Front foot finish, long swing. Up the middle pull side approach. 

Power: 89.2 mph exit velocity, average 75.5 mph. 69.9 mph bat speed average. 23.6 mph hand speed average.

Defense:  (OF) Sure hands, consistent footwork, clean developing exchange.  Fields the ball out front.

Arm: 82 mph outfield velocity. Short arm action, high ¾ slot, decent accuracy. 

Speed: 6.95 (60-yard).

Pitching: Above average. Up-tempo delivery, some effort. Over-the-top arm angle, some arm speed, short arm action. Strong balance point, uphill shoulders, lands open, upright finish.

FB: 77-79 mph. (Max spin 2181;  Avg 2071). Up in the zone accuracy, some action, flat movement. 

CB: 68-70 mph. Decent command, sweeping action. (Max spin 2346; Avg 2235).
