Greenfield Central MIF Slater Rush Picks Wabash Valley

Slater RushGreenfield Central senior middle-infielder Slater Rush recently committed to Wabash Valley.  The 6-foot-2, 168 pound Rush attended October's Unsigned Senior Games at Grand Park.

PBR: Ultimately, why did you choose Wabash Valley?

Rush: I chose Wabash Valley because they have a great baseball program that is always playing games and competing all the time. I think that they will get me to a good Division 1 school after I play there.

PBR: Where did Wabash Valley first see you compete?


Rush: Wabash Valley first saw me compete at the PBR Unsigned Senior Games at Grand Park.

PBR: When did you take your first visit to Wabash Valley?

Rush: I took my first visit to Wabash Valley on 10-15-14.

PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play when you first arrive on campus next fall?


Rush:  Wabash Valley wants me to come there and work as hard as I can everywhere I go and to be on the field making plays.

PBR; Were there any other schools you were considering?


Rush:  Olney Central College, Eastern Illinois, and Ball State were considering me.

PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player? 


Rush: Mike Shirley has definitely had the biggest impact on me as a baseball player. I have been working with him for four years now and he has developed me into the player I am today. 

PBR: You play for the Indiana Eagles in the summer, how has playing with them helped you develop as a baseball player?


Rush: The Indiana Eagles have helped me a lot as a baseball player because we are always playing in good tournaments with really good competition. 

PBR: What are you goals both individually and as team this coming spring at Greenfield Central? 


Rush:  My goal for this spring is to get a lot stronger and put on some weight. As a team we want to win our conference and win sectionals and go even farther. 

PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher you've faced in Indiana?


Rush: Trey Ball was the toughest pitcher I have faced in Indiana.  

PBR: What were your stats last spring at Greenfield Central?


Rush:  My stats for Greenfield Central last year: .479 batting average, 25 runs, 4 home runs, 24 RBI's, .591 OBP, and .849 SLG. 

PBR: What is your most memorable baseball moment to date?

Rush:  My most memorable moment in baseball would be winning sectionals my sophomore year.
