Coop's Scoop: Uncommitted Standouts from Indiana Fall State Games

Cooper Trinkle
Lead Scout

The Indiana Fall State Games took place Sunday, October 16 at Indiana University's Bark Kaufman Field. The inaugural event featured tons of uncommitted talent, with six arms at 85 mph or better on their fastball and 14 hitters with a 90 mph or better exit velocity. Today, we highlight 12 uncommitted names to know from this event.

Jack Beyl, OF, 2024, Providence HS

An athletic, 5-foot-10, 160 pound outfielder with plenty of quick twitch. A 6.79 runner, Beyl also impressed in his round of BP, showing off some strength to the pull side. Beyl has a short, simple swing with a rhythmic hand load that allows him to create good separation at heel strike. Beyl also showed off some arm strength (86 mph) and range in the outfield throughout the day.

Bryce Brabender, SS, 2024, Mooresville HS

Brabender stood out with one of the top in-game performances of any position player at the event, picking up multiple hits and showing the ability to handle velocity. The lean, 5-foot-11, 140 pounder hit from a tall, open stance with simple movements in the upper body. Brabender has solid bat-to-ball skills, quick hands, and showed the ability to spray the ball from gap-to-gap.

Ty Brooks, RHP, 2024, Wawasee

One of the top uncommitted arms in Indiana’s 2024 class, Brooks was dominant in his outing at the Fall State Games. The athletic, 6-foot, 165 pounder sat 83-87 T 88 mph on his fastball with quick arm speed. Brooks showed two distinct breaking balls, an 11/5 CB at 70-74 mph that he could land, and a 75-77 mph SL that he used as an out pitch. His velo has continued to improve every time we have seen him in 2022, paired with advanced athleticism on the mound, Brooks will be a very solid addition to a program’s 2024 recruiting class.

Coen Evrard, LHP, 2024, Floyd Central HS

Evrard took a big step in the right direction at the Fall State Games, with quite possibly the best performance of the day. The lanky, 6-foot-1, 180 pound southpaw has a loose, clean arm from a high ¾ slot and sat 84-86 T 87 mph on his fastball, with good run to his arm side. He paired the fastball with a tight, 74-77 mph slider (2300-2600 spin) that was a wipeout pitch when he was able to release it out front. Evrard continues to trend in the right direction, with more velo left in the tank.

Tommy Harringer, RHP, 2024, Mishawaka HS

An imposing, 6-foot-4, 230 pounder, Harringer attacked hitters with a heavy dose of fastballs in his outing. Harringer sat 84-88 T 89 mph with some sink on the fastball. He showed no fear on the mound, pouring fastballs to both sides of the plate. He also showed a big, 70-73 mph CB that he used mainly as an out pitch, but also showed the ability to land it for a strike. Harringer’s velo ticked up at the Fall State Games compared to a look in the spring. Good arm to follow in the 2024 class.

Jaden Hart, OF/INF, 2023, Jeffersonville HS

If there was one hitter that no arm wanted to face at the Fall State Games, it was Jaden Hart. Hart had multiple hits in game play, including an opposite field, line drive home run. A 6.79 runner, Hart also created havoc on the basepaths with multiple stolen bases. The 5-foot-9, 140 pounder showed plus arm strength in the showcase portion (94 OF Velo / 89 INF Velo) as well as twitchy bat speed and loud exit velocities (95.4 mph Max EV).

Paddy Keefer, RHP, 2024, Mishawaka Marian HS

Keefer showed a major uptick in velocity at the Canes Scout Weekend and backed that performance up with a really solid outing at the Fall State Games. The high-waisted, 6-foot, 180 pounder showed legitimate feel for a three pitch-mix, highlighted by an advanced, fading 73-75 mph changeup that he threw to both RH and LH hitters. Keefer sat 83-86 mph on his fastball and showed a big, 11/5 CB at 65-68 mph. Keefer’s frame paired with loose, whippy arm action suggests that he still has more velo left in the tank.

Masen Moravec, SS, 2024, Floyd Central HS

A strong and athletic, 6-foot, 180 pound infielder. Moravec impressed with loud measurables at the Fall State Games. A 6.85 runner, Moravec has a short, compact swing with a flat path that produced a max exit velocity of 96.2 mph. He also showed off good arm strength across the infield, with an 86 mph INF velocity.

Carter Orner, RHP, 2024, Plainfield HS

Orner is another 2024 RHP that continues to trend in the right direction. The projectable, 6-foot-6, 200 pounder sat 81-85 T 86 mph on his fastball at the Fall State Games. Orner pitches from an over-the-top arm slot, allowing good downward action on the fastball. His best offspeed pitch was his diving, 71-73 mph splitter that he used as an out pitch. Orner showed a developing, 66-67 mph breaking ball that showed 12/6 action.

Alex Schuler, SS, 2024, Borden HS

Long, 6-foot-2, 185 pound shortstop. Schuler is a smooth defender in the infield, playing with good tempo and showing some arm strength across the diamond (83 mph). Schuler hits from a tall stance and uses a slow, controlled load and toe-tap stride. He has a clean, upward path with strength in the barrel (94.5 mph Max EV).

Joseph Wilson, RHP, 2023, Mt. Vernon HS

Uncommitted 2023 RHP with a wiry, athletic 6-foot-2, 175 pound frame. Wilson breezed through his two innings of work at the Fall State Games, sitting 83-86 mph on his fastball. He has a slow-tempo delivery, paired with quick arm speed, that allows his fastball to jump on hitters. Wilson used a short, tight 72-74 mph slider to keep hitters off balance.

Kline Woodward, 3B, 2024, Bedford North Lawrence HS

A top 50 player in Indiana’s 2024 class, Woodward had a strong showing at the Fall State Games. The physical, 6-foot-3, 210 pounder is very athletic for his size, running a 6.95 60 and showing quick lateral movements at 3B. At the dish, Woodward hits from a wide stance with a tight, compact load and a short stride. Woodward showed the ability to barrel velocity in game play and showed pull side power in his BP round. He also showed good arm strength (86 mph) across the diamond.
