Indianapolis, IN--- The Brownsburg Bulldogs took a business approach to yesterday’s non-conference game against North Central (Indianapolis). The Bulldogs scored two runs in the first, and another four in the second. Brownsburg controlled the game throughout its entirety, trouncing North Central 9-1.
First baseman Sam Comer (2014) led the Bulldogs offensively going 2-3 with a homerun and a double, while Tyler Houston also added a homerun.
On the mound senior RHP Dalton Carter paced Brownsburg by throwing five innings and allowing just one run. Carter, an unsigned senior, worked from a ¾ arm slot getting arm side run on his 78-80mph fastball. North Central got its only run on a Mac Lozer (Michigan Commit) solo homerun. It was a good sign for the Panthers as Lozer has missed some time recently.
Brownsburg is an interesting team with college level talent all around the field. Shortstop, Mike Hartnagel, is arguably the best unsigned senior middle infielder we’ve seen so far this season. The senior SS moves well, possesses a plus arm and handles the bat really well. Senior second baseman, Hayden Shipman, completes a good duo up the middle alongside Hartnagel. Senior catcher, Kyle Yeager shows average arm strength with clean feet and an accurate arm. He is undersized but athletic. Next, you look at a good group of sophomores in Caleb Sampen, Michael Klayer, Anthony Travelsted and Jacson McGowan. The juniors are some of the biggest contributors on the team with Sam Comer, Tyler Houston, and Ty McCoy leading the way.
Brownsburg will have to continue to fight the struggles young teams have, but this team has the talent to repeat as sectional champs.
