As we prepare for our 2014 high school preseason coverage, we are going to take a quick glance at teams from across the state.

OUTLOOK:

The South Spencer Rebels and Head Coach Brian Kuester appear to be in the middle of a dynasty in Class 2A baseball.  Since 2007 Coach Kuester's teams have won three Class 2A state championships, and have their eyes on No. 4 this spring.  The Rebels return six position starters and seven arms in 2014, and are more than capable of ending their season at Victory Field once again.  Kuester will look to four seniors to lead the way in 2014.  Senior Nathan Kuester will once again fulfill the catching duties for the Rebels.  Kuester, a three year starter, hit .389 at the plate in 2013.  Senior outfielder Chandler Roberts returns for his final season at South Spencer after hitting .288 as a Junior.  Senior's Malin Webb (P/OF) and Ryan Wilkinson (INF/P) will also play key roles this spring.  Webb was a .265 hitter as a Junior while Wilkinson finished 2013 hitting .310.  Other notable Rebels this season include; Junior Tyler Schneider (INF/P) and sophomore Kobe Stephens (INF/P). Schneider, ranked No. 95 in Indiana's class of 2015 rankings, hit .396 in 2013 as a sophomore and Stephens finished his freshman year hitting .250.  The Rebels return enough talent and experience to once again make a deep run in the state tournament.
