OUTLOOK:

The Lafayette Central Catholic Knights have absolutely dominated class 1A baseball over the last decade. Head Coach Tim Bordenet and the Knights have won five consecutive 1A championships and seven out of the last 10.  This spring will bring an end to their consecutive 1A win streak, but not because the of lack of talent.  Due to the IHSAA's new tradition factor of bumping up highly successful teams to a higher class, LCC will now compete in class 2A.  Despite moving up to a larger class, Bordenet's team still has the same goal in 2014, a state championship.  This year's Knights will be led by senior catcher Evan Kennedy who is signed with Purdue.  The 6-foot-3, 205 pound Kennedy is a left handed hitter who batted .300 with 13 2B, 2 3B, 3 HR and 24 RBI in 2013.  Bordenet will count on three sophomores for large contributions this spring in SS Jackson Anthrop, OF Adam Lovell, and 3B Luke Fusiek.  As a freshman Anthrop hit .363 with 9 2B, 18 RBI, 34 Runs and swiped 13 bags.  Lovell, a left handed hitter, hit .347 last year with 11 RBI, 28 Runs, and 9 stolen bases.  Fusiek will also be looked to produce at the plate after hitting .345 with 4 2B, 10 RBI and 12 Runs as a freshman last season.  Two seniors expected to play key roles to the Knights success this spring are OF Pete Metzinger and RHP Hayes Cronk.  Metzinger had 8 RBI in 2013 hile scoring 10 runs.  The 6-foot-4, 215 pound Cronk had a successful year on the mound as a Junior where he went 8-2 with a 1.62 ERA with 54 K's in 56 IP.
