As we prepare for our 2014 high school preseason coverage, we are going to take a quick glance at teams from across the state.

OUTLOOK:

Head Coach Eric Flickinger and the Clinton Central Bulldogs head into the 2014 season with high expectations.  Depth and experience return for Flickinger's squad this spring with seven positional starters and four pitchers returning from last year.  Coastal Carolina commit, Jeff Scott, a senior catcher is the top returner for Clinton Central.  Scott, ranked No. 21 in Indiana's class of 2014 rankings, hit .420 in 2013 with 31 RBI.  Scott is also a threat on the bases, having swiped 31 bags last spring.  The 6-foot-1, 180 pound senior will also be counted on on the mound.  Last season he threw over 66 innings with an 8-3 record, 0.84 ERA and 98 strikeouts.  Junior Jake Burton returns to the Bulldogs this season as a key contributor both at the plate and on the mound.  As a sophomore, Burton hit .319 with 29 Runs, and 13 stolen bases. On the mound the righty pitched in 42.3 innings, finishing with a 3.97 ERA and a 4-3 record. Coach Flickinger will also look to senior RHP Cole Simmons for productive innings on the mound.  The 6-foot, 180 pound senior was 4-0 in 27.67 IP and finished with an impressive 0.78 ERA.  Other Bulldogs expected to contribute include; Mitchell Snell (2014), Aaron Russell (2014) and Dan Wyrick (2015).  The Bulldogs should compete with FW Carroll for the Hoosier Heartland Conference championship and will be a favorite to win the 2014 sectional.
