On Sunday, February 4th, the Prep Baseball Illinois staff traveled to The MAX in McCook, IL, to host the annual Unsigned Senior Showcase, an event that featured 25+ uncommitted 2024s. Those in attendance participated in a pro-style workout in front of our staff, collecting unrivaled measurables through the help of our state-of-the-art tech partners and in-person evaluations from our scouting staff.

Now, we’re rolling out all of the scouting reports from the event, starting with the position players and making our way to the mound for the arms later on. 

Two names that just missed the top five and are still uncommitted are OF Luke Joseph (Lake Forest, 2024) and 1B Cade Farquer (Williamsfield, 2024). Both swing physical barrels at the plate and profile at corner spots at the next level.

1. Hayden Mosley, Harvest Christian (IL), 2024
Positional Profile: 3B/RHP
Body: 6-3, 210-pounds. Good proportions with more strength and fill coming.
Hit: RHH. Stock setup, rhythmic move back with toe tap, lands with leverage and good separation.  Rhythm in the swing, level path, drives the ball with authority up the middle, hard lifted contact to the middle. 71.4 mph bat speed with 16 G’s of rotational acceleration.
Power: 99 max exit velocity, averaged 90.8 mph. 319’ max distance.
Arm: RH. INF - 85 mph. 3/4 slot, short quick arm path, can throw from multiple arm angles, has touch.
Defense: Soft hands, plays through the ball with intent, gains ground. Feel for the position, corner profile at the next level.

2. Reid Hietpas, Xavier (WI), 2024
Positional Profile: 3B/RHP
Body: 6-1, 205-pounds. Athletic and strong build, sloped shoulder.
Hit: RHH. Stock setup, slightly open, early toe-down approach, good separation, heel plant on time. Loose hands, flat path through the zone with a line-drive approach, creates some extension out front, sprayed line drives up the middle of the field. Quiet swing with rhythm. 75.7 mph bat speed with 12 G’s of rotational acceleration.
Power: 92 max exit velocity, averaged 88.1 mph. 255’ max distance.
Arm: RH. INF - 76 mph. Arm works out of a high 3/4 slot, has touch and feel, accurate.
Defense: Steady, sure-handed actions, moves well laterally for his size, fluid footwork.
Run: 7.14 runner in the 60. 

3. Anthony Holloway, Saint Patrick (IL), 2024
Positional Profile: OF/RHP
Body: 5-9, 180-pounds. Athletic with strength throughout.
Hit: RHH. Stock set up with strong back elbow, controlled move to center, lands with good separation. Quick, strong hands, flat path with extension out front, uses the ground through impact, works up the middle/other way with authority, fluid operation. 73.2 mph bat speed with 26 G’s of rotational acceleration.
Power: 95 max exit velocity, averaged 90.7 mph. 347’ max distance.
Arm: RH. OF - 80 mph. Short path, 3/4 slot, accurate with some carry.
Defense: Soft hands, fluid footwork, quick first step, gets around the ball and plays through it.
Run: 7.72 runner in the 60. 

4. William Klumpp, Sycamore (IL), 2024
Positional Profile: OF/RHP
Body: 5-11, 170-pounds. Long, lean and wiry with more fill coming.
Hit: RHH. Wide base with lower hands, short stride to center with good hand separation creating stretch at foot down.  Hands work low into a flat path, uphill at times, used the middle of the field with elevated contact. Did show feel for the barrel to the opposite field. Athletic and loose with some whip in the barrel. 71.3 mph bat speed with 12 G’s of rotational acceleration.
Power: 96 max exit velocity, averaged 88.8 mph. 311’ max distance.
Arm: RH. OF - 76 mph. High 3/4 slot with carry.
Defense: Athletic footwork, soft hands, plays with some rhythm, athletic through the ball.

T5. Jonathan Torres, St. Viator (IL), 2024
Positional Profile: 2B/3B
Body: 5-10, 180-pounds. Strong and athletic build.
Hit: RHH. Stock base, strong pre-setup with back elbow and hands. Quick hands, direct path, flat through the zone, works line-drives up the middle of the field. 64.5 mph bat speed with 9 G’s of rotational acceleration.
Power: 89 max exit velocity, averaged 85.4 mph. 206’ max distance.

Positional Profile: C/1B
Body: 6-2, 180-pounds. Athletic build with high waist and long levers.
Hit: RHH. Wider base, strong gather into the backside lands centered into strong hitting position. Creates extension, works through the zone with a level path. 70.1 mph bat speed with 21 G’s of rotational acceleration.
Power: 93 max exit velocity, averaged 81.9 mph. 350’ max distance.
Arm: RH. C - 77 mph. High 3/4 slot with some carry.
