Underclass Showcase: Preview

Sunday, October 20th, the Prep Baseball Illinois team is hosting the Underclass Showcase at The MAX in McCook, Ill. This is an open event for all high school underclassmen (2027 & 2028), and gives our staff an ample look at the area's top players.

EVENT ROSTER

This year’s event roster is shaping up nicely, just like in year’s past.

The state’s top prospect in the sophomore class, and the No. 25 ranked prospect overall will be in attendance this weekend in OF Sebastian Wilson (Lane Tech, 2027; Tennessee commit). Wilson is a tooled-up prospect with athleticism and strength in his 6-foot, 190-pound build. At past events, Wilson has recorded a max exit velocity of 97.7 mph (89.3 mph avg.), 349 foot max batted distance, 6.76 60 time, and a 90 mph OF velocity. We’re eager to get an updated look at Wilson this Sunday at The MAX.

INF Gavin Hartigan (Nazareth, 2028) is headed to Sunday’s event after our staff first saw him at an event this past summer. He’s a twitchy athlete with all kinds of upside in his frame, running a 6.82 60 in July. A right-handed hitter, Hartigan is short and direct to the ball, and has shown the ability to barrel the ball for line drives to all fields. He’s a premier defender up the middle with quality actions, athletic footwork, soft hands, and the ability to range to both sides of his body.

Looking at this weekend’s roster, we’re set to see plenty of prospects that we haven’t seen before, and we’re excited to get a look at these players. For a look at the complete event roster, click here.

EVENT CHECK-IN PROCESS

Because of the high number of prospects set to attend Sunday’s event, it is imperative that you read our showcase itinerary below, which will allow our staff to swiftly and efficiently educate and evaluate the players set to attend.

Additionally, in an effort to continue and develop contactless check-in strategies, upon arrival, players will scan a QR Code with their smart phone camera that will lead them to a Google Form. On that Form, players will enter their name (matching the spelling on their Prep Baseball profile) and hit submit. Upon submission, players will be prompted to click a link that will direct them to their jersey color and number, located next to their registered name.

Please bring snacks and drinks as events can run long, especially depending on your position.
