This Saturday, February 17th, the Prep Baseball Illinois team is hosting the Southern Illinois Preseason ID at the Sports Barn in Wood River, Ill. This is an open event for all high school classes (2024-27), and gives our staff an ample look at the area's top players.

2024 ROSTER

Taking a look at the roster for Southern Illinois’ inaugural Preseason ID:

A talented uncommitted prospect attending this year’s event is RHP Tommy Kramkowski (Belleville East, 2025). We last saw Kramkowski at the Illinois State Games in early August, where he showed a simple delivery on the mound with a quick arm to pair, sitting mostly low-to-mid-80s with his fastball, and topping out at 86 mph. He mixes in three offspeed pitches as well, throwing a curveball, slider and change-up.

Ranked No. 56 in Illinois’ 2026 class is 1B Isaac Wendler (Father McGivney), who stands in a strong 6-foot-1, 200-pound frame. A right-handed hitter, we’ve seen Wendler pummel the baseball with upper-80s to lower-90s exit velocities, peaking at 92.6 mph, and sending one a max distance of 358 feet. He’s been up to 84 mph on the mound, too, and our staff is eager to see the strides he’s made this offseason.

OF Omar Avalos (Father McGivney, 2027) and C Brody Lindemann (Belleville East, 2027) are a pair of prospects that represented Illinois at the PBR Junior Future Games in 2023 and are set to attend this weekend’s event. Avalos is an athletic left/left prospect that performs in-game every time we see him. He’s ran a 6.92 60, produced a 92 mph EV, and topped out at 80 mph from the outfield. Lindeman stands in an advanced frame for his age at 6-foot, 175-pounds, and he’s shown a simple swing with the ability to barrel the baseball to all fields.

Perusing the event roster, we’re set to meet a majority of players who’ve not yet attended a PBR showcase, and we’re eager to add more names to our follow lists.

EVENT CHECK-IN PROCESS

Because of the high number of prospects set to attend Saturday’s event, it is imperative that you read our adjusted showcase itinerary below, which will allow our staff to swiftly and efficiently educate and evaluate the players set to attend.

Additionally, in an effort to continue and develop contactless check-in strategies, upon arrival, players will scan a QR Code with their smart phone camera that will lead them to a Google Form. On that Form, players will enter their name (matching the spelling on their PBR profile) and hit submit. Upon submission, players will be prompted to click a link that will direct them to their jersey color and number, located next to their registered name.
