Preseason All-State Upperclass: Outfield Analysis

Illinois Scouting Staff

On Saturday, February 24th, our staff hosted the Preseason All-State: Upperclass event at The MAX in McCook, IL. This event was host to just over 130 of the top 2025 grads from around the state, and gave our staff one final look at these prospects before the spring season began.

Today, we continue our post-event rollout from the day with a look at each and every outfielder.

One player that just missed the cut for the Top-10 is Karim Patterson (Latin School of Chicago, 2025). Listed at a physical 6-foot-1, 196-pounds with still more room for added strength, Patterson wields a strong right-handed bat that reached just north of 97 mph throughout his round of BP, maxing out at 368’ for his farthest hit ball. Another impressive statistic from Patterson is that his average EV was 90 mph, with 82% of his batted-balls being on the ‘sweet spot’ according to TrackMan. He’s a steady defender that moves well for his size, and he also reached up to 89 mph from a crow hop.

Continue reading to see who our staff deemed as the top outfield prospects from the day.
