Sophomore right-hander Jackson Heidemann (Harlem) had himself a week, helping the Huskies to a 3-1 clip with a couple strong performances on the mound. In total on the week, Heidemann went a perfect 2-0 with 10.1 innings, just two hits allowed, 17 strikeouts and two walks. For his efforts, Heidemann has been named this week’s ‘Pitcher of the Week’.

His first outing came in a 26-0 win over Rockford East in which he fired a perfect four innings, striking out 11 along the way with 35 of his 44 pitches being for strikes. 

His second outing of the week came against a strong Freeport club, as he fired 6.1 innings while scattering just two hits, two walks and six strikeouts in their 3-0 win. He helped his own cause at the plate in this game as well, finishing the day 1-for-3 with two RBIs. 

On the year, Heidemann boasts a spotless 3-0 record with 19.1 innings pitched, a 1.81 ERA, 1.086 WHIP, 33 strikeouts, 11 walks and an opposing batting average of .147. Listed at 6-foot-2, 177-pounds, the right-hander gave our staff an upside look over the winter with a fastball up to 84 mph that set up a low-70s curveball and mid-70s changeup. He’ll be an arm to watch as he continues to develop throughout the high school ranks.
