On Tuesday, October 8th, the Prep Baseball Illinois/Wisconsin Staff traveled down to Godfrey, IL for the Lewis and Clark Scout Day. There were a number of players that showed well on the day, and you can find scouting reports along with videos on these standouts, below.

+ RFr. C Andrew Bober (Marquette, 2023)
Uncommitted. Standing in at 6-foot, 185-pounds with lean strength throughout his frame. At the plate, the right-hander works into his legs before delivering the barrel to the baseball with leverage out front. Bober averaged 90.2 mph off the barrel, topping out at 96.4 mph throughout his round; he swung the bat at 70.6 mph on average, 72.9 mph max. Defensively, behind the plate Bober is a steady defender with steady hands and an accurate arm. 

+ Fr. OF Shaun Ferguson (Marquette, 2023)
Uncommitted. Strong 5-foot-10, 190-pound frame with some speed running a 6.99 at the event. At the plate, the right-handed hitter took a direct path through the baseball and repeatedly drove the ball on a line, going to the opposite field often throughout his round. Ferguson averaged 87.5 mph off the barrel, topping out at 96.3 mph. Defensively in the outfield, Ferguson takes efficient routes to the baseball with an accurate arm up to 81 mph.

+ So. OF Jacoby Gross (Steeleville, 2023)
Uncommitted. Lean strength at 5-foot-11, 145-pounds with room to add. At the plate, from the right-side Gross showed feel to drive the ball on a line, especially to his pull side, Gross averaged 90.3 off the barrel and topped out at 96.7 mph. Defensively in the outfield, Gross used his 6.74 speed to glide to the baseball, taking fluid and proper routes with arm strength up to 90 mph.  

+ So. INF Isaac Lemanski (Collinsville, 2022)
Uncommitted. Strong 5-foot-10, 200-pound with strength throughout. At the plate from the right-side, Lemanski starts upright taking a controlled and easy round of BP consistently finding the barrel. Lemanski averaged 93.5 mph off the barrel, topping out at 101.4 mph. Lemanski delivers the barrel with strength, swinging the bat at 74.8 mph on average, topping out at 77.3 mph. Defensively, Lemanski is a reliable defender in the dirt with some range and steady hands with an accurate arm up to 86 mph.

Uncommitted. 5-foot-11, 185-pounds. Simple, loose swing, compact and short to the ball with extension through impact, flatter path, balanced throughout. Worked to stay up the middle of the field, reaching up to 92 mph for his max EV (T354’) Steady actions behind the plate, arm plays with little perceived effort up to 79 mph, not afraid to use the turf, 1.97 pop-time. 

+ So. INF Hayden Sherman (Marquette Catholic, 2023)
Uncommitted. 6-foot, 195-pounds, evenly distributed strength. The right-handed hitter has a simple and repeatable swing, working with a steeper path that tries to stay on top of the baseball, getting some extension through impact (T98 mph EV; 89 mph avg. EV). Soft hands and fluid footwork on the infield, plays with some rhythm and timing, easy arm that can play from multiple angles. 

+ So. C Trenton McCain (Columbus North, 2023)
Uncommitted. Compact, athletic 5-foot-9, 165-pound frame. The left-handed hitter has a fluid, easy swing that stays flat through the hitting zone, working on-plane and showing the ability to use the whole field, reaching up to 93 mph for his EV. Confident receiver of the baseball behind the plate, strong hands work under the baseball to present pitches around the zone. Clean glove-to-hand with a quick transfer, works in-line from the crouch (T78 mph; 2.00 pop-time). 

+ RFr. INF Alex Schreckenberg (Columbia, 2023)
Uncommitted. Physical 6-foot-3, 210-pound frame. The right-handed hitter took an impressive round of BP, averaging 90 mph for his EV while topping out at 98 mph (T375’). He has a balanced operation, working with a longer path through the zone that creates extension out front, showed the ability to backspin the baseball. Middle of the order power profile. 

+ So. OF Braiden Elliott (Tri-Valley, 2022)
Uncommitted. 6-foot-1, 185-pounds, lean with some strength throughout. The right-handed hitter showed some of the louder measurable metrics on the day, starting with a 6.72 in the 60. At the plate, Elliot displayed some twitch and strength in his operation, recording a max EV of 98 mph, flashing power to his pull-side with a home run to L/C (T372’). He posted some impressive BLAST metrics as well, averaging 22.8 mph for his hand speed and 25 Gs for his rotational acceleration. Fluid footwork and soft hands in the outfield, moves well into a crow hop and displayed a clean arm action, topping out at 86 mph. 

+ So. RHP Joseph Swanson (Pekin Community, 2022)
Uncommitted. 6-foot-3, 210-pound frame. The right-hander stood out in his ‘pen, working with a powerful delivery that plays with some intent, longer arm swing with a high ¾ release. The fastball jumps out of the hand and plays with run through the zone, sitting 89-91 mph and topping out at 92 mph (T2472 rpm). He showed a knack to spin his sider, playing over 2,800 rpm at times with sharp 10/4 action and depth, 76-79 mph.
