Underclassmen Spotlight: Tanner Kehrer, SS/2B, Belvidere North HS, Class of 2014

We catch up with Tanner Kehrer today,
"Kehrer is a 5-foot-6, 130-pound multi-positional player who showed good lateral movements in route to fielding the baseball. He exhibited an accurate arm (74 mph infield; 75 mph OF) and natural instincts at his positions. At the plate, Kehrer has a balanced, fundamentally sound approach. He is short and quick to the baseball, and has a level line-drive producing swing."

PBR: Have you ever attended a Prep Baseball Report event? If so what were your impressions of the event?
Kehrer: Yes I have been to the Underclass Invitational’s my freshman and sophomore years. I thought it was a well run event with a lot of talented players there.
PBR: What is your biggest strength as a player?
Kehrer: My biggest strength is being fundamentally sound both on defense and offense.
PBR: Who do you play for in the summer and what are you most excited about this summer?
Kehrer: I play for the Rockford Big Dogs 18u Prospect team. I am looking forward to playing with some of the top players from the Nic-10 and Big Northern conferences and facing the top players from the Great Lakes region.
PBR: What are your goals both individually and for your summer team for the rest of spring and summer?
Kehrer: Goals for the spring are to try and help our team win a Regional title as we lost my freshman year in the title game.
For the summer I want to show well at the college run tournaments and to continue to gain exposure with colleges. Off the field I am going to work hard with my strength and conditioning coach so I can being physically ready to make a run at playing at the college level.
PBR: What is your most memorable moment in baseball so far in your life?
Kehrer: I think the one that stands out and means the most was having the opportunity to play for Walt Weiss a few summers ago and being able to talk to him about the game and learning from him.
PBR: What are your stats so far in the High School season?
Kehrer: I am hitting 355 with an OBP of 450 and 4 stolen bases at the Varsity level .
PBR: Who is the toughest hitter/pitcher that you have faced?
Kehrer: The toughest pitcher I have faced has been Ryan Perez over summer ball.
