On July 14, the PBR Wisconsin staff made its return trip to The Rock Complex to host its annual Top Prospect - Milwaukee showcase for prospects headed into their senior years of high school. Each year, this showcase does well to spotlight some of the best incoming, uncommitted seniors in the area, and this year’s roster was especially talented.

We previously began our coverage of this showcase in the days that followed the event, in the form of our Quick Hits and Statistical Analysis posts. We started our positional analysis this week with the catchers and infielders, and we’re onto the outfielders today.

Committed to Bradley now, OF Cole Luckey (Glenbrook South, IL) was very impressive for our Illinois colleagues in a couple different looks prior to this event, and he did plenty enough to earn the top spot below.

But a couple Wisconsin prep prospects come in at Nos. 2 and 3 with reputations as some of the top-ranked talent not yet committed. Anthony Gross (Catholic Memorial) is a twitchy and strong athlete who has shown especially well in-game as a lead-off type with exceptional speed that works efficiently on the bases and in the outfield.

Leo Falletti (Wilmot) profiles similarly, with an especially strong build in a smaller frame and a right-handed bat that looks primed to energize the top of a lineup. He, too, is a sub-6.90 runner and it complements his barrel feel well, spraying line-drives to all fields.

TOP OUTFIELD PROSPECTS

1. Cole Luckey, Glenbrook South (IL), 2021; Bradley commit
Positional Profile: OF; Coming off highly productive summer and big riser in Illinois’ senior class.
Body: 6-3, 185 pounds. Athletic frame with twitchy levers.
Hit: RH. Balance setup, slight load into back side, short stride. Strong explosive hands, quick twitch, short uphill swing, line drive gap-to-gap approach.
Power: 96 mph exit velocity from the tee. Hard, repeatable line-drive contact – averaged the hardest exit velocity at the event in BP (92.0 mph, per TrackMan).
Arm: RH. OF - 88 mph. Long loose arm action, over-the-top slot, throws play accurate and carry.
Defense: Quick athletic first move to baseball, soft hands, clean exchange, plays through the baseball.
Run: 6.89 runner in the 60. 

2. Anthony Gross, Catholic Memorial (WI), 2021
Positional Profile: OF; A highly athletic, table-setter type offensively. One of the top uncommitted prospects in Wisconsin's senior class.
Body: 5-8, 165 pounds. Compact, strong, athletic frame.
Hit: RH. Quiet in the box, balanced setup, slightly open base. Smooth load, steady leg lift timing trigger, athletic lower half drive. Simple swing, fast hands with twitch, short and level path. Gap-to-gap approach, feel for the barrel, top-of-the-order profile. 
Power: 90 mph exit velocity from the tee.
Arm: RH. OF - 86 mph. Long arm action, over-the-top slot, throws play accurate, flashed carry.
Defense: Quick first step, feet work in a fluid rhythm around the baseball, covers ground. Soft hands, clean to release. Athleticism and actions suggest a long-term future in center field.
Run: 6.81 runner in the 60. Above-average foot speed for age. 

3. Leo Falletti, Wilmot (WI), 2021
Positional Profile: OF; An enticing all-around athletic profile; remains one of the top uncommitted outfielders in Wisconsin's senior class.
Body: 5-10, 170 pounds. Strong, athletic frame.
Hit: RH. Balanced setup, slight weight shift onto back leg, short leg lift timing trigger. Twitchy hands produce loose bat speed, short and level path, gap-to-gap approach. Present bat strength and feel for the barrel; ball jumps when he's on plane.
Power: 85 mph exit velocity from the tee. Recorded a max exit speed of 97.8 mph and an average exit speed of 91.7 mph in BP, per TrackMan.
Arm: RH. OF - 76 mph. Short arm action, high 3/4 slot.
Defense: Fluid footwork, fields in rhythm, soft hands, clean to release, plays through the baseball.
Run: 6.88 runner in the 60. Above-average foot speed for age; moves well. 

4. Jaden Schwantz, River Falls (WI), 2021
Positional Profile: OF/LHP
Body: 5-11, 180-pounds. Compact, athletic frame with strength in long levers.
Hit: LH. Balanced setup, bat rests high over back shoulder, smooth load, strides to even.  Strong hands with present bat speed, uphill path, natural loft through contact. Works under the baseball, gap-to-gap approach, middle-in approach.
Power: 90 mph exit velocity from the tee.
Arm: LH. OF - 84 mph. Long arm action, high 3/4 slot, throws play with life and accurate.
Defense: Athletic first move, clean exchange, plays through the baseball.
Run: 7.32 runner in the 60. 

5. Boone Mathison, Tomah (WI), 2021
Positional Profile: OF
Body: 5-11, 170-pounds. Compact frame, strong build.
Hit: RH. Tall setup, slight bend in knees, short stride. Twitchy, loose hands. Short and level path, creates extension through contact, gap-to-gap approach at the plate.
Power: 83 mph exit velocity from the tee.
Arm: RH. OF - 83 mph. Long loose arm action, over-the-top slot, throws play accurate.
Defense: Athletic first step, works in rhythm around the baseball, clean exchange, plays through.
Run: 6.85 runner in the 60. Above-average foot speed, translates to the outfield.

6. Braden Mullen, Loyola Academy (IL), 2021
Positional Profile: OF/1B
Body: 6-3, 210-pounds. Long-levered, projectable frame.
Hit: RH. Balance setup, small leg kick, lands closed. Strong hands, uphill swing, pull-side approach.
Power: 94 mph exit velocity from the tee.
Arm: RH. OF - 86 mph. Short arm action, over-the-top slot, arm plays true.

7. Cole Fialco, Menomonee Falls (WI), 2021
Positional Profile: OF/RHP
Body: 5-10, 150 pounds. Athletic frame and build.
Hit: LH. Open balance setup, loads into back leg, long leg kick. Fast strong hands, short uphill swing,  gets extended, power gap-to-gap approach.
Power: 85 mph exit velocity from the tee.

8. Angel Rades, Oak Creek (WI), 2021
Positional Profile: OF/LHP
Body: 5-9, 158 pounds. Compact frame.
Hit: LH. Tall setup, narrow base, quick bat tip load, strides to even.  Loose bat speed, short path, maintains a level plane, all-fields approach. Contact-oriented hitter, sprays line drives across the field, repeats well.
Power: 78 mph exit velocity from the tee.

10. Riley Bauman, Stratford (WI), 2021

Body: 5-11, 166 pounds. Lean and lanky frame.
Hit: RH. Tall setup, open base, length to stride, closed toe at land. Athletic hands with bat speed, long and level bat path, gap-to-gap approach. Recorded some prominent bat and hand speed numbers, per Blast Motion.
Power: 89 mph exit velocity from the tee. Repeated hard-hit contact in BP well, averaged 88.6 mph exit velocity, per TrackMan.
Arm: RH. OF - 83 mph. Long arm action, 3/4 slot.
Defense: Average hands, long to release, plays through the baseball at times.
Run: 7.36 runner in the 60.
