No. 9 alek thomas

Brenden HeissOF Alek Thomas (Mount Carmel HS, 2018) finds himself as the No. 9 most clicked profile of 2015 from the state of Illinois.  He is the No. 1 ranked player in Illinois and No. 4 in the overalls. Thomas emerged this spring on a loaded high school team with eight Division 1 players to lead the team in home runs. A clutch performer, Thomas hits balls much farther than his wiry 5-foot-10, 165-pound frame would indicate. In short order, Thomas has begun to build a reputation as potentially one of the top outfield prospects Illinois has seen in a long time. Thomas is also a three-sport standout for the Caravan.

Thomas parlayed his spring success into a busy summer. First, he was selected to participate for Team Illinois at the PBR Future Games. Thomas was one of only a handful of 2018's selected to participate in the prestigious event. He was also chosen to attend the Area Code Games and Underclass Area Code Games. Here is a video of Thomas during the workout day at the PBR Future Games.

Scouting Report

Future Games 2015 - Ultra athletic 5-foot-10, 157-pound left-handed hitting outfielder impressed in all facets of the game. Began his day running a 6.74 60. The left-handed hitter then flashed his offensive prowess during batting practice at the Future Games. Hits from an open, athletic set up, smooth deep load. Plus rhythm throughout his swing. Extremely loose, quick hands and easy bat speed. Showed off his pull-side pop by putting his last swing of the day easily over the right-field fence. Hit an opposite field double over the left fielders head in game. Also, registered an exit velocity of 93 mph. Defensively, smooth, easy athletic actions in the outfield and a long, loose-arm action. Routinely tracked down balls in game and was clocked at 82 mph from the outfield. Makes everything he does look easy.
