Stevenson OF Max Golembo commits, and other news
February 11, 2012
Recruiting news from across Illinois:
Washington University landed a coup when it received a commitment from Max Golembo, an athletic left-handed-hitting OF from Stevenson HS. As a junior, Golembo led the Patriots with a .427 BA. He also drove in 20 runs and had an on-base percentage of .562. Golembo is currently ranked No. 83 in Illinois’ Class of 2012.
A sub-7 runner, Golembo committed only one error in centerfield all season. Golembo is also tough: He placed fifth in the world in the judo championships, the highest finish for an American in 20-plus years.
Dan Ribando, a 6-foot-4, 180-pound OF/1B from Immaculate Conception HS, has committed to Loras College. The athletically built Ribando ran a 7.35 60 and was clocked at 82 mph at a PBR event last summer.
Erik Brewer, a 6-foot-3, 195-pound RHP from Dundee-Crown HS, has committed to the University of Chicago.
Jaren Linton, a SS from Bethalto Civic Memorial HS, has committed to Illinois Central College. As a junior at CM, Linton hit .304 with four home runs, six doubles, six triples and 28 RBIs as the Eagles lead-off man.
