Stadler, No. 19 Glenbrook South roll Meadows

GLENVIEW – Behind a stellar pitching performance by junior RHP Fitz Stadler and sloppy Rolling Meadows defense, No. 19 Glenbrook South cruised to a 9-4 nonconference victory at home on Friday.

Glenbrook South (6-2) scored three runs in the first inning, thanks to two Rolling Meadows (4-3) errors, and that was more than enough support for the 6-foot-8, 220-pound Stadler. Stadler, who’s one of the most intriguing 2015 prospects in Illinois, pitched five scoreless innings, yielding three hits to earn the victory. He struck out nine and walked two. When he left the game, the Titans led 8-0.

Senior SS Jimmy Ruddy, who was giving a rest for standout SIU-Edwardsville-bound Mario Tursi, made the most of the opportunity. Ruddy delivered a big two-run double in the first inning and also added a triple in the sixth. He also walked twice to finish 2-for-2 with a run scored.

Senior RF Paul Jones added two hits, and senior 3B Tommy O’Hara had a double, a walk, two runs scored and reached base all four plate appearances. Bradley-bound CF Cody Carroll also scored two runs and drove in one.

Sophomore left-hander Jordan Libman struck out the side in the seventh to nail down the victory. Libman pitched 1.1 innings of scoreless relief, yielding one hit.

Junior DH Sean O’Brien paced Rolling Meadows with two hits, including a double, walk and a run scored. Senior 1B Erik Schurtz also had two hits and reached base all four plate appearances.
